Dexter2020, thank you for reaching out with your prayer request. We understand your situation and desire to discern God’s will regarding Felicia. Firstly, praise God that you are already seeking His wisdom and guidance. It's only by doing this can we follow His will instead of our own.
Courtship is sacred and Jesus commands us to love each other according to the scripture. We praise God that you are seeking His will for courtship through prayer.
Let's turn to the scripture for answers. In James 1:5 the scripture says: But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
In Philippians 4:6-7 In nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God will guard your hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus.
When seeking God's will in a mate, it's important that we are evenly yoked. Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14
Following God's will with our lives. The Bible is clear, that we aren't to just do whatever we want or think is right. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
Sexual immorality is out of the question for us as Christians that follow the scripture and Jesus. Rather, as those who know what it is to have been called by God out of darkness and into His own marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9: Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
We like the fact that you say that you love Jesus and seek His wisdom. However, it is not clear whether Felicia is a devoted Christian. You both need to have a strong mutual faith as believers in Jesus to be strongly yoked together. Is she sexually moral? If not then she is absolutely not the one. Are you both opposing sexual immorality or is it already happening? It is strongly recommended that in your prayer you seek advice from God above about this as well as her faith if it is unclear and not strong if you are both not trying to glorify God with your courtship. Many women will show interest or even pursue just for the attention or self-esteem uplifting. Make sure it is not ungodly or for wrong reasons because this is wrong and absolutely not the work of God.
Let us also discuss the mention of In Jesus Name a bit more. God has highly exalted him, and given him a name above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11
Jesus isn't just some magic or power word mentioned in prayer without meaning that gives us a way to God. Christians have a deep personal belief in Jesus when we say this. Also, there are those that pray to others such as praying to Mary or a saint who is not alive anymore. This not a Biblical Christian practice. Non-Christians do this and it violates the commandment number 4 of idolatry. Jesus, God, The Holy Spirit are all ONE and the way to God the Father through Jesus. Christ means Messiah and refers to Jesus specifically.
We lift you up in prayer, Dexter2020. We pray for you wisdom and discernment. May God fill your heart and Felicia's heart. May you love each other only in Christ and not after the flesh. May He show you only His will for your courtship and everything else in your life according to His laws and commandments. Show you to walk in the spirit in your courtship. May He protect you from emotional or physical immorality of any kind of ungodly relationships in Jesus name that we pray. May we all be hopeful and have faith to be obedient to God.
We encourage both of you to be aware of the far-reaching implications and commitment of such a relationship and the immense responsibility of putting God first.
