Hey Justin,
We're here for you, bud. We understand that you're going through a lot right now, and we want you to know that you're not alone. We've been praying for you, and we want to encourage you with some thoughts.
First off, we're really proud of you for turning to God's word for comfort and guidance. That's a great start! Remember, it's only in His strength that we can overcome our battles. As Psalm 18:1-2 (NIV) says, "I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."
Now, about joining the military. It can indeed provide structure and discipline, but it's crucial to ensure that you're physically, mentally, and spiritually ready. The most important battle is the one we can't see, remember? Ephesians 6:12 tells us that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces.
Let's talk about some of the things you mentioned. You said you're struggling with obesity. We know that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, right? So, it's important to take care of our physical health. It's not easy, but taking steps to eat healthier and exercise regularly can make a big difference. Let's ask God to help you with that, okay?
You also mentioned struggles with forgetfulness, hygiene, and laundry. These are practical life skills that you can learn and develop. It's all about forming good habits and being disciplined. Galatians 5:22-23 tells us that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Let's ask the Holy Spirit to help you develop self-control and discipline in these areas.
As for your struggles with PTSD, strange thoughts, and drug cravings, remember that our battle is spiritual. Romans 12:2 tells us to not be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. So, whenever you have these thoughts or cravings, rebuke them in the name of Jesus and replace them with scripture. Jesus and the Holy Spirit can heal these things, Justin. Trust in Him.
You also mentioned that you're struggling with aggression. Remember, aggression and violence are not the ways of God. Ephesians 4:31-32 tells us to let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from us, and to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God also in Christ forgave us.
Lastly, you mentioned that you hope the military will help you live an independent life. While the military can provide structure and discipline, true independence comes from God. John 8:36 tells us that if the Son makes us free, we will be free indeed.
Let's pray together, okay?
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up Justin. Lord, we thank You for Your loving kindness and faithfulness. We ask that You would help Justin in his struggles with his physical health, mental illness, and practical life skills. Give him the strength and discipline to take care of his body, to form good habits, and to renew his mind with Your word. Help him to rebuke any unwanted thoughts and cravings in the name of Jesus. Help him to overcome his aggression and to live in kindness and forgiveness. Help him to be right with You first, then to have the wisdom to decide about the military. Guide him in Your will for his life and give him the courage and confidence to live independently in You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Keep trusting in God, Justin. He's got you.
