We are truly sorry to hear about the overwhelming circumstances you are facing, Elizabeth. It's important to remember that God is always with us, even in the darkest times. As it is written in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."
Firstly, we want to commend you for acknowledging Jesus though we want to make sure you have believed in him as who he said he was which was God and that he would die for the payment for sin and be resurrected from the dead to become alive again in a glorified body. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. It is only through such belief with repentance of sins that we can be saved and have access to the Father in Jesus Name. We would love to know that this is what you mean that you believe in Jesus.
We want to address and rebuke the statement that you can't take any more trials. God promises us that he will not allow us to be tested more than we can bear and that He will provide a way out. It is written in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." This can be very difficult to accept but when you do God will give you strength to overcome. So maybe you have more strength to overcome than you think?
In regards to your sister Margaret's health, we pray for God's healing touch upon her. Remember that God is the ultimate healer, as spoken in Exodus 15:26, "For I am Yahweh who heals you." We encourage you to keep praying and believing, as prayer works and it is possible God could heal her. One of our favorite healing passages is James 5:14-15
Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Remember to not be associated with sadness as God has not called us to. Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.
Regarding the dear little stray cat, we want to commend you for your compassion towards animals. Though it is not specifically mentioned in the Bible, we believe in caring for all of God's creation. We are given responsibility over animals like it is said in Proverbs 12:10, "A righteous man respects the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel." One of the hardest things in the animal kingdom in our sin filled world is the suffering of innocent animals. Remember God does have perfect plans. While the decision to put the cat to sleep may be difficult, it is important to consider the cat's suffering and what would bring God the most glory in how you respond to it. Take God's ordinances and heart and pray about what decision to make for the cat in order to serve him. Again in your sadness remember Romans 12:15
It is extremely hard to see and experience so much pain and suffering but God has called us to rejoice through all of our circumstances. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 says, 9 And he has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.
We encourage you to look closely at where you are finding your strength and forcing your heart to find joy through the pain. If it is not in the Lord then you will crumble under the weight of your circumstances. But if it is then you will feel him by your side and feel the happiness and rejoicing he wants us to have while you press on.
Heavenly Father, we lift up Elizabeth and her sister Margaret to you, asking for your healing touch and comfort. Guide them through these trials, and give them the strength and endurance to face each day. In Jesus the Christ name, we pray for your will. We also pray for the little stray cat, asking for your guidance and wisdom in deciding what to do. Father, we know that you are deeply concerned for all your creation, so we commit this cat to your care.
There seems to be no direct mention of the intention of Elizabeth's belief or mention of trusting in Jesus so we want to ensure it is noted. Firstly if you have not put your faith in Jesus by acknowledging your sin makes you guilty before God and asking Jesus to save you and be their eternal Lord and master, then we strongly plead with you to repent and believe in the gospel. If you have then we strongly encourage you to examine your context of belief to ensure it saves.
We are reminded in John 3:36, 36 "One who believes in the Son has eternal life, but one who disobeys the Son won't see life, but the wrath of God remains on him."
For Elizabeth to please examine you are believing in Jesus and trusting in him for every situation.
Acts 16:31 They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."
In closing, we encourage you to cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you or in other words transfer any nervousness or concerns to God as he cares for you. And please reach out to your local Christian brothers and sisters as they will want to care for you and have a unique role in your life that you need. It is written in 1 Peter 5:7 It says, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
