We are truly sorry to hear about the passing of a spouse and the challenges that have followed. In this time of need, we want to lift up this family, praying for comfort, provision, and guidance. Let's remind ourselves and our grieving brother or sister of the God's promises such as to the widows and fatherless:
Do not be afraid. Behold, your God will come with vengeance, God's retribution. He will come and save you. He will come with vengeance, God's retribution. He will save you. Then the eyes of those who see will not be blurred, and the ears of those who hear will listen. The heart of the rash will understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plain. Exodus 4:1-4 WEB God promises to not forsake the widow or fatherless Isaiah 42:6-7. This was something that the prophet Isaiah reminded them constantly about in chapters 40-50.
Remember when Jesus was resurrected, he told Mary not to cling to him but to go and tell the commune his news. In the same way, we are not to hold on to this world and the people, because that is not where our inheritance lies. This is certainly not to say that death does not hurt or make things difficult. Instead, we need to set our eyes on Jesus, the one that defeats death and provides an eternal better world for those that believe in his name. Therefore, God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-10 WEB
Let's pray together:
Almighty God, we come before you IJN, lifting up the this family to you. We pray that you will comfort them in their grief and provide for their every need. We ask that you will help them to find employment so that they will not become homeless. We rebuke the spirits of anxiety, depression, and intrusive thoughts, IJN, and we ask that you will fill their minds with your peace, which surpasses all understanding. We pray that you will guide them and give them wisdom in every decision they make. We ask that you will surround them with your love and remind them that you will never leave them nor forsake them. We pray for Hoethhorenn's faith and that you will use good Christians around them that build them up. We pray all of these things in Jesus' name, amen.
We encourage not only to seek God for physical needs but also for spiritual needs. The fear and anxiety could be coming from circumstances, but often times come from a loss of awareness of God. Of Course, this is surely understandable since the situation is very difficult. Remember that life is vain and often problems do not really exist where we think they do. God promises that when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you: when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, neither will the flame kindle on you. Isaiah 43:2 WEB It is only through God things will make sense and we can truly live. Not knowing if tomorrow will come or knowing what will happen should be everyday and constant things that we consider about life. There is so much to hope in and be happy about.
Lastly, remember not to lean on your own understanding but to acknowledge God in all your ways. Rather than being anxious about tomorrow, let tomorrow care for it's self. Focus on the miracle of today and then what God desires, God will provide.
