His Peace
"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful."
Colossians 3:15 NIV
Peace is not just about the absence of trouble, war or stress. It's about a gracious state of harmony, wholeness, and spiritual prosperity. In fact you can be in the midst of great persecution and still have biblical peace. Paul had peace in most adverse situations.
James 1:2
"Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials"
Clearly a 'Peace' that defies worldly peace.
Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
Jesus is speaking about a 'Peace' that supercedes all troubling circumstances and worldly peace itself. He's informing His disciples not to be troubled by coming events. Think about it! Jesus was about to be arrested, flogged, crucified and die and still He instructed His disciples not to be troubled or fearful. Worldly peace is not capable of accomplishing this separation of outside circumstances.
Godly Peace is a fruit of the Spirit. It is entrenched in your heart and it is not swayed by any outside calamities.
Hebrews 12:14
Let your desire be for peace with all men, and to be made holy, without which no man may see the Lord;
We were called to His Peace.
