We understand that you're seeking help to overcome abusive words that have been spoken over your life. Firstly, let's be clear that God's words for you are full of love, hope, and encouragement. The Bible tells us that " life and death are in the power of the tongue" (Proverbs 18:21 WEB). Words can indeed bring life or death, encouragement or discouragement.
However, we must remember that God says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB). God's thoughts and words towards you are always good and full of hope.
Let's pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You heal the wounds inflicted by harsh and abusive words. Remind our friend that they are precious in Your sight and honorable, and that You love them dearly (Isaiah 43:4). Help them to see themselves as You see them, and to speak life and truth over their own life. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage you to replace the negative words spoken over you with the truth of God's Word. Here are a few verses to meditate on:
- "For you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9 WEB).
- "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13 WEB).
- "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16 WEB).
If you haven't already, consider accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. It is only through His name that we have access to God's presence and the power to overcome the negative words spoken over us. "That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:9-10 WEB).
Lastly, forgive those who have spoken abusive words over you. Jesus teaches us to "love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you" (Matthew 5:44 WEB). Forgiveness will set you free and allow you to move forward in God's blessings.
