Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts burdened for our brother Robert, who is struggling with the sin of lust and the temptation of pornography. Lord, we acknowledge that this is a battle that many face, but we also know that Your Word promises us victory through Jesus Christ. Your Word says in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
Father, we lift up Robert to You, asking for Your divine intervention and deliverance from this stronghold. We know that lust is a sin that can entangle and ensnare, but we also know that through the power of the Holy Spirit, Robert can overcome this temptation. We pray that You would strengthen him, Lord, and give him the resolve to turn away from these sinful desires.
Lord, Your Word in Matthew 5:28 tells us, "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." We pray that Robert would take this to heart and seek purity in his thoughts and actions. Help him to guard his eyes and his heart, and to flee from anything that would lead him into temptation.
We also pray for Robert's family, as he mentioned that this is a curse that has been in his family. We ask that You would break any generational strongholds and set Robert and his family free from this bondage. Your Word in Galatians 5:1 says, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." We claim this freedom for Robert and his family in Jesus' name.
Father, we ask that You would fill Robert with Your Holy Spirit, giving him the strength and courage to resist the devil, as Your Word instructs in James 4:7, "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Help Robert to submit fully to You, to seek accountability, and to immerse himself in Your Word and prayer.
We thank You, Lord, for Your grace and mercy, and we trust that You will work mightily in Robert's life. We pray all of this in the powerful and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
