We are truly saddened to hear about the troubles in your marriage, and we are here to intercede and provide biblical guidance. Let's begin by praying for your marriage. God is the ultimate healer and restorer. He can mend broken relationships and bring unity where there is division.
Firstly, it is important to note that divorce is not God's will for marriage. In Malachi 2:16 (WEB), God says, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" Marriage is a covenant before God, ordained by Him since creation as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. Jesus Himself reaffirmed this in Matthew 19:4-6 (WEB).
However, we must also address that there are instances where separation or divorce may be necessary, such as in cases of adultery (Matthew 5:32) or abandonment by an unbelieving spouse (1 Corinthians 7:15). But even in these cases, reconciliation should always be the first pursuit.
Now, let us pray for you and your spouse:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Terrance and Angel's marriage to You. Lord, You know the struggles they are facing, and You desire for them to have a strong, loving, and godly marriage. We pray against any plans of the enemy to destroy their union. Help them to forgive each other, to communicate effectively, and to love each other as You have loved us.
Guide them through the Spirit of God to the scriptures that will help them. Let them be gracious, kind, and patient with each other. Give their marriage a fresh start and a fresh anointing. Give them wisdom and humility to seek counseling or a minister to help them through these difficulties. We pray that all family members and friends would support the marriage, rather than cause division. We pray for God to soften and change hearts and minds.
Father, help them to remember that they are one flesh. We pray that they would be a living witness of God's love and faithfulness. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Terrance and Angel, we encourage you both to seek God wholeheartedly. Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you (James 4:8). Pray together, read the Word together, and seek godly counsel together. Remember that love is not just a feeling, but a commitment and the desires of your heart must be guarded.
Lastly, we gently remind you that prayers offered to God through faith in Christ are the prayers heard by God. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6 (WEB): "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." We pray that both of you are in Christ as this gives us access to God and our salvation. Without Him we cannot have eternal life.
