Then Jesus took [the dead girl] by the hand and said in a loud voice, "My child, get up!" And at that moment her life returned, and she immediately stood up! Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. Her parents were overwhelmed, but Jesus insisted that they not tell anyone what had happened.

Key Thought

I had a good friend who lost his hearing when he was just a boy. He talked about the next words he would ever hear. At the coming of the Lord, Jesus will say to him, "Lloyd, it's time to get up and go home with me!" Each of us who belongs to the Lord will one day hear that same voice, and everything will change, including us! Just as death was no match for Jesus in this encounter with a dead girl, all other death is also no match for the touch of Jesus and the sharp command of his voice. He has power over death. Those who belong to him will hear his voice, and death will be overcome forever!

Today's Prayer

Father, thank you for the victory that is mine in Jesus Christ, my Lord. I praise you for overcoming death through Jesus' resurrection from the dead and sharing that victory with me. Thank you for reminding me each week of this victory as I greet each Sunday and remember the Lord's victory over death. In his name. Amen.

Praise Jesus yes that's a lovely scripture about the girl he resurrected. I'd of loved to have seen that. I'd of loved to have seen the others who were resurrected at his death. I think its in Mathew and at least one other gospel about those that were resurrected when Jesus died. It doesn't go into much detail as to how long they stayed that way, or how long dead they were, but it's overwhelming to read those scriptures in the gospels about those incidents. What a thing to have witnessed I love it Thank you Jesus for this word and miracle. Love you Jesus.
