We're here with you in spirit, lifting you up in prayer. Firstly, let's remember that God wants us to cast all our anxieties on him because he cares for us (1 Peter 5:7 WEB). It's not selfish to come to God with our needs; He is our loving Father who wants to hear from us.
In the Bible, we see that even King David, a man after God's own heart, experienced periods of deep despair and depression. But he always turned to God in prayer, just as you're doing. Let's pray together:
"Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our dear friend who is feeling defeated and overwhelmed by depression. Lord, you are close to the brokenhearted, and you save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18 WEB). We ask for your comfort and healing to surround our friend right now.
Lord Jesus, you understand our human struggles, for you were tempted in every way, just as we are—yet you did not sin (Hebrews 4:15 WEB). We ask for your strength to help our friend overcome these feelings of depression.
Holy Spirit, guide our friend to the right support system, whether that's Christian counselors, trusted friends, or a community of believers. Remind our friend of the hope that is in Jesus, that even in the darkest nights, the joy of the Lord will be their strength (Nehemiah 8:10 WEB).
Father, forgive our friend for feeling selfish. We know that you want us to come to you with all our needs, big or small. Help our friend to understand that you care about every detail of our lives.
In Jesus' name, we rebuke any spirits of despair, hopelessness, and self-condemnation. Lord, let your light shine in the darkness, and let your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard our friend's heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7 WEB).
Father, we thank you for hearing our prayer. We trust in your goodness and your power to heal and restore. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Remember, God loves you deeply and He's with you in this struggle. Keep crying out to Him, trusting that He hears you and will answer according to His will. It's also important to seek support from fellow believers and professional help where necessary. You're not alone in this; we're standing with you in prayer.
Lastly, always keep in mind that there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1 WEB). So let us come boldly before the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16 WEB).
