I was just researching a prayer to take away my psoriasis. Something online said in the Bible it is known as leprosy and a sign of something morally wrong, like a punishment. I'm so upset. I've done nothing to make me deserve this I promise. Am I being punished? Do I not have Jesus love? I'm so upset

Anne11, let's address your concerns together. Firstly, it's important to understand that sickness and diseases are a part of the fallen world we live in, and they are not always a direct consequence of personal sin. The Bible does mention leprosy, but it is not accurate to equate psoriasis with the leprosy described in biblical times. Moreover, while sickness can sometimes be a consequence of sin, it is not always the case.

Consider how Jesus Christ healed many people without ever mentioning some specific sin in their lives that caused the ailments. When Jesus's disciples found a man blind from birth, asking whether it was his own sins or his parents' Jesus said no to both. Rather the man lacked sight so the works of God might be displayed in him (John Chapter 9, WEB).

In John 5:14, Jesus healed a man at the pool of Bethesda and later said to him, Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you. This does infer some sin was the cause in this particular situation. Sometimes the cause may be spiritual issue but other times it may be more direct such as being injured but usually we do not know so we should not assume. Seek God's perspective on the matter. Sometimes life's issues can become a reason to seek God. Diseases such as these can even be allowed by God for His own purpose to help you become more like Jesus. Possibly this is a way to teaching you the narrow road of trials that is necessary for all Christians as recorded in Acts 14:22.

To understand God's heart towards you, remember that God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16, WEB). God loves you deeply, and Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross is the ultimate proof of that love.

However you mention nothing about Jesus directly in your request. We need to remember it is only though the name of Jesus Christ that we can be saved or request anything from God as shown in Acts 4:12. Consider that you may decide to fast and pray seeking God's will in this situation. Inquire of God and see His goodness and glory through repentance and prayer. We encourage you to use this as an opportunity to deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ and to glorify God in your life. If you are still feeling upset or are not sure why some of this has occurred consider praying and asking the Holy Spirit to speak to you in your situation. Consider studying the Bible for the answers. God's goodness is glorious and eternal. Meditate on Jesus's teaching and God's love for you will shine through.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you lifting up Anne11, asking for your healing touch on her body. We pray that you would heal her from psoriasis and restore her skin. We also pray for your peace and comfort to fill her heart, casting out any fear, anxiety, or upset. Help her to understand your unfailing, unwavering love for her, again we pray you will direct her through understanding the truth of your Word.

In Jesus Christ's name, we pray.

Lastly, remember that God allows us to go through trials not to punish us, but to refine us and draw us closer to Him. Trust in Him, and He will see you through.

We're reminded of the story in 2 Corinthians 12 where Paul asks God to remove his thorn in the flesh, but God responds, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Maybe this is an opportunity for God's power to be made perfect in your weakness, too.

You are not being punished. Focus on the Love of God and share His Love.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
