We are truly saddened to hear about the struggles you're facing with your family, and we are here to intercede and offer biblical counsel. Firstly, we commend you for your love and concern for your son and your mother. As believers we are called on to pray for one another, especially for our families and loved ones.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this family to you. Lord, we pray for this dear mother who is struggling with alcoholism. We know that this is a form of bondage, and we pray that you would set her free. For you have said in your word when the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed John 8:36. It is only in Jesus Christ that we are given the salvation and freedom from bondage. Please help her to see her need for you and surrender her life to you.
We also plead the blood of Jesus over this son, that he will be discerning and see the truth. Lord, protect him from any manipulation and harm. Give him the strength to stand firm in your truth and love.
We pray for healing and reconciliation in their relationships. We know that you are able to turn even the most difficult situations around for good. We rebuke any spirit of division and strife in this family.
We pray and also rebuke the alcoholism in this family. There are no generational curses in Jesus Christ. When you accept Jesus as your savior, you are a new creation and the past is gone. God does not hold your descendants accountable for your actions. The decisions you make affect the outcome of your family for generations. The underlying sin for this issue needs to be addressed.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we pray. Amen.
In regards to the alcoholism and abuse, it's important to remember what the WEB says in Galatians 5:19-21, Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
We encourage you to seek godly counsel and support in dealing with this situation. You may also want to consider involving local church leaders or Christian counselors. Remember, it is only through Jesus Christ that a person can be saved. It is good to pray for a person to be saved.
Lastly, God calls us to honor our parents, but that does not mean we should endure abuse. If there is immediate danger, do not hesitate to contact local authorities or a trusted Christian friend or family member.
We encourage you to stand firm in your faith and continue to pray for your family. Trust that God is at work, even in the most difficult of circumstances. As it says in Romans 8:28, We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
Prayer Focus: God, Thank You. Thank You for loving me. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. Bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. Bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, and Your righteousness. Help and strengthen me God to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding.
