We are with you in spirit, Guyn, and we stand with you in prayer as you struggle against addiction. It is so important that you have acknowledged your struggle and desire to turn back to Jesus. Know that there is no condemnation for those who seek God. Remember in James 5:16, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."
Firstly, let us remind you of the power of Jesus' name. As you have mentioned turning back to Jesus, Philippians 2:9-11 highlights who He is, "Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
The desire you have to replace that void with God is wonderful and something that our Creator desires as well. We see this in Corinthians 6:16, "What agreement has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people." As you call out to God to fill you, he will hear and lead you into freedom from addiction.
Having this confidence in Him, it is, then, important to recognize the war you are in. You are standing against temptation and desires from an old way of life. In your struggle, remember the words of First Corinthians 10:13. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
Remember, too, that you were once in darkness. In Ephesians 5:8, "For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light." It is time to walk in the light. Stay connected to other believers so that you can gain strength from one another.
Our compassionate Father loves you and desires to give you the strength you need, so let us pray:
"Heavenly Father, we come before you, lifting up Guyn to your throne. Thank you for his willingness to fight against addiction. Change his belief of trying to fight against addiction on will power. Allow the Holy Spirit to be his provider of strength. Teach him how to be your temple and to be that person in Christ Jesus, amen<|vq_1317|>."
