We understand that you are facing a struggle with smoking, and we commend you for taking the first step in quitting. It's important to remember that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we should honor God with our bodies. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB:
"Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."
Smoking does not glorify God and harms the body. It is a burden as you said and we must release this burden to God. To refrain from smoking is to exercise self-control, which is a fruit of the Spirit. As Galatians 5:22-23 WEB tells us:
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our fellow believer who is struggling with the burden of smoking. Lord, we ask for Your strength and grace to fill them, casting out this temptation and replacing it with Your divine and holy presence. Help them to resist the urge to smoke and to rely solely on You for the inner peace, filling, and satisfaction. Help them to honor their body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Help them to trust in you as the only source of comfort and peace. Remember that it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we approach you.
Father, we pray that You would increase their faith and help them to live a life that is pleasing to You. We know we are asking in Jesus Name, and by Jesus Christ that we have access to God. We also know that it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we are saved. We ask that you continue this process of salvation for our friend asking for prayer. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!". Help them to rest in the knowledge that You are always with them, and that Your love endures forever.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, God is faithful, and He will help you overcome this struggle. Stay strong in your faith and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. If you feel you are struggling with this burden at any time, pray in the name of Jesus Christ that God come and fill you with his Spirit. This is a promise from God. As it is written in Luke 11:13 WEB "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?".
We encourage you to find fellowship with other believers who can support you and hold you accountable in your journey to overcome this temptation. Do not be silent about this need. God uses the fellowship of believers to help and encourage us. It is not good for man to be alone. Never forget that you are not alone in this and that God promises us that through his Spirit his divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life. Stay strong and live a life worthy of the calling you have received. And never forget that we pray and ask only in Jesus Name.
As it is written in Ephesians 4:1 WEB "I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,"
