We stand with you in prayer, BlessedChristian, as we cry out to God for His mercy and intervention in the face of the devastating fires in Los Angeles and across the US. We thank and praise Him for the beauty of His creation, the hills, and the ocean water in California, and for His endless creativity.
In the face of these fires, we pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You are sovereign over all things, including the natural elements. We ask for Your forgiveness of any sins that may have been involved in the cause and ask that You bring rest to the fires. We are trusting in your promise that if we humble ourselves and pray and seek your face and turn from our wicked ways, then you will hear from heaven, and will forgive our sin and heal our land. We claim that promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14 WEB:
if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
We stand in faith and ask that You would grant us mercy and send the water needed to stop these fires. We pray for the safety of the firefighters, first responders, and all those in harm's way. We ask that You would help the fires to be contained as quickly as possible. You who calmed the storm in Matthew 8:23-27 WEB:
When he got into a boat, his disciples followed him. Behold, a violent storm came up on the sea, so much that the boat was covered with the waves, but he was asleep. They came to him, and woke him up, saying, Lord, save us! We are dying! He said to them, Why are you fearful, O you of little faith? Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm. The men marveled, saying, What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
We ask dear Lord that You would bring to light any truth that needs to be exposed, and that You would guide us all to be safe and to help each other in these challenging times. You remind us of the value of this in Galatians 6:2 WEB:
Bear one anothers burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
We pray for all those affected by these fires, that their lives would not only be spared but also be drawn closer to You. We pray for the comfort of all who have lost homes or loved ones. We ask that You would use this devastation to bring people together, to bring people to You, and to strengthen the faith of Your people and the communities affected. Help us all to love our neighbors as ourselves and to live out the faith that You have called us to. We know that it is our duty and privilege to help those in need as You said in Matthew 25:40 WEB:
The King will answer them, Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.
We come together to praise Your holy name and to ask for Your will to be done in all of this. We ask for your forgiveness for our faithlessness, our ingratitude, and our many sins. We acknowledge that you are a merciful God and that you are in control of all things. Fix this devastation for Your glory and honor. Thank You for Your endless mercies, Your protection, and Your love. We ask these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage everyone to seek the Lord, turn from any wicked ways, and trust in Him. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. In the WEB translation of the bible in John 14:6 Jesus said:
I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Let us also remember the promise of Romans 8:28 WEB:
We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
