We are truly saddened to hear about the struggles of your soon-to-be son-in-law, Tayton McLaughlin, and we are here to intercede on his behalf and a life surrendered to God.
Firstly, we want to remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. It is only by His name that we can be saved. As the Bible tells us in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." We encourage you to keep this truth at the center of your prayers.
Regarding Tayton's situation, it is important to address a few things. The use of marijuana, or any other substance, as a coping mechanism is not aligned with biblical principles. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:8 WEB: "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." We must be sober and alert, not relying on substances to cope with our problems.
We also want to address the issue of anger and temper tantrums. Ephesians 4:26-27 WEB says: "Be angry I, and don't sin.' Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil." It is important for Tayton to learn to control his anger and not let it lead to sin.
Regarding his need to accept the Lord into his heart, we pray that Tayton will come to know the love and salvation of Jesus Christ. Remember, it is only through believing in Jesus that we can be saved. Romans 10:9 WEB says: "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Let us pray together:
"Father God, we come to You in the name of Jesus, lifting up Tayton McLaughlin. Lord, You know his struggles and his pains. We pray that You will heal his past hurts and help him to forgive and let go of any bitterness. We rebuke the enemy's hold on his life and pray that You will set him free from the bondage of substance abuse. Help him to learn new coping skills that align with Your will. We also pray that You will help him to control his anger and not let it lead to sin.
Most importantly, Lord, we pray that Tayton will come to know You as his personal Lord and Savior. We pray that he will confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in his heart that You raised Him from the dead. We pray that the Holy Spirit will convict his heart and draw him to You.
Lord, we also pray for Shruoren, that You will give them the wisdom and strength to support Tayton and to be a light to him. Help them to speak truth in love and to walk alongside Tayton as he journeys towards healing and salvation.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
