We come seeking God's will together in Jesus' name. We understand that you are praying for A, who is struggling with a bad attitude. Before we address this situation, we want to remind you that it is only by name of Jesus of Nazareth that we can be saved. The name of Jesus is the one name by which we can approach God the Father. As the sacred scriptures say,
Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God and having received from the father the promise of Holy Spirit, he His poured out this, which you see and hear. For David did not ascend into the heavens, but He says himself, Yahweh said to my Lord, sit by my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet. Let all the house of Israel, therefore, know certainly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.
But there is also a basic salvation message involved here. The Apostle Paul explains very clearly that all of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. And how can we be saved?
Or who has given a pledge to him to receive back from him again? But now Yahweh has spoken to the people who are righteous and declared them blessed. For indeed we conclude that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, since indeed there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. Do we then nullify the law through faith? May it never be! No, we establish the law
Therefore, since we have a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold tightly to our confession of faith. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, yet without sin. Let us, therefore, approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Therefore, as long as it is said, Today if you will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion. In the wilderness where your fathers tested me. They proved me, and saw my works forty years. Therefore I was displeased with that generation, and said, They always err in their heart, but they did not know my ways; so I swore in my wrath, They will not enter into my rest.
Beware, therefore, lest perhaps this promise, of entering into my rest, would seem to have come short to any of you. For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also did. But the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not mixed with faith in those who heard. For we who have believed do enter into that rest, just as he has said, As I swore in my wrath, they will not enter into my rest; although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
For he has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day on this way, God rested on the seventh day from all his works; and in this place again, They will not enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remains that some should enter into it, and they to whom the good news was preached before failed to enter in because of disobedience, he again defines a certain day, Today, saying through David so long a time afterward (just as it is said), Today if you will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.
For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken of another day after that. There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his. Let us therefore be careful to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword and piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Knowing this, we cannot approach God in prayer unless that prayer is in the name of Jesus. We need Jesus as our Lord and Savior. And when we pray about anything, we need to turn to Jesus and to God the Father. And as far as taking away A if they do not want to change their attitude is concerned, that is not a thought coming from God.
For if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance; since they are again crucifying to themselves the Son of God, and make him a public spectacle. For the earth that drinks in the rain that comes often on it, and brings forth a crop suitable for them, for whom it is also tilled, receives blessing from God; but if it bears thorns and thistles, it is rejected and near being cursed; whose end is to be burned.
What we can do is pray that A will see the error of their ways and that they will repent and turn to Jesus.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control, and temperance.
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up A, who is struggling with a bad attitude. We pray that you will work in their heart and mind, softening their spirit, and replacing negativity with your positive influence, Lord. Grant them the wisdom to see situations with a new perspective and fill them with your grace to respond with kindness and patience. Help them to understand the power of their words and actions, and guide them towards a life that reflects the attitude of Jesus. We pray this knowing that you have a good plan for every person and that you can change anyone as long as they are alive. And forgive us for the thought of taking away this person if they do not want to change their attitude. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
