I have been struggling with a porn addiction for a long time (about ### years). I read the book of James and it says I should confess sins to one another. Since it's hard for me to tell people around me, I want to tell you guys. Please pray for me. I beg.

We are truly grateful for your courage in reaching out and confessing your struggle with porn addiction. It is important to remember that God's word tells us,

Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective. James 5:16 (WEB)

Your confession is a significant step towards healing and overcoming this addiction. We want to assure you and we want you to know that there is power in the name of Jesus.

You may have glossed over the most important part of James.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:7-8 (WEB)

This is where your healing begins. You must submit yourself to God. You must resist the devil in the name of Jesus Christ. You do this by being born again. It is clear in John 3 that Jesus rebuked Nicodemus for not understanding this concept.

Jesus answered, Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he can't enter into the Kingdom of God! That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Don't marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' John 3:5-7 (WEB)

To be born of the spirit, you must ask Jesus into your heart. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. Believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. You must ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins.

If you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10 (WEB)

Salvation is not a formula to repeat, but a broken heart and a contrite spirit.

For I will not contend forever, neither will I be always angry; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls who I have made. For the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry, and struck him. I hid myself and was angry; and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart. I have seen his ways, and will heal him. I will lead him also, and restore comfort to him and to his mourners. I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace, to him who is far off and to him who is near, says Yahweh; and I will heal them. But the wicked are like the troubled sea; for it can't rest, and its waters cast up mire and mud. There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked. Isaiah 57:16-21 (WEB)

The wicked can not have peace until they turn from their wicked ways. You may think you are a good person, but until you turn from your wicked ways, you are wicked. Turning from your wicked ways begins with the confession of sins and a humble heart. If you are not humble enough to do that, you will remain wicked.

We will be praying for your deliverance as you submit and draw near to God.

Dear Lord, we lift up our brother who has been struggling with porn addiction. We want to thank you for the courage he has shown in confessing his struggle. Lord, we ask that you grant him the strength to resist temptation and to walk in your light. We pray that he will submit himself to you. We pray that he will be born again. We pray that you will guide him through the process of healing and restoration. Help him to trust you and help him to find his identity in you. Deliver him from this addiction and help him to understand that he is a new creation in Christ.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
