We understand your struggle and we are here to pray with you and offer guidance from God's Word. It is encouraging to hear that God has lifted the sorrowful burden from your heart, as He promises to heal the brokenhearted (Psalm 147:3, WEB). However, the remaining feelings for your ex can be confusing and frustrating.
Let us pray for you:
"Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our brother who is struggling with lingering feelings for his ex. We thank You for the healing You have already brought to his heart. We ask now that You would help him to let go of these residual emotions. Give him the strength to move forward and to trust in Your timing and Your plan for his life. Help him to fix his eyes on You and to seek Your will above all else. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
It is important to remember that God's will is for us to live in holiness and purity (1 Thessalonians 4:3, WEB). If this past relationship is not aligned with God's principles, then it is crucial to let it go completely. The Bible tells us to "put off" the old self and to "put on" the new self (Ephesians 4:22-24, WEB). This includes old emotions and attachments that are not in line with God's best for us.
We encourage you to immerse yourself in God's Word and in prayer. Ask God to replace these feelings with a love for Him and a desire to serve Him. Trust that God has a plan and a purpose for your life, and that includes the right spouse if marriage is part of His will for you (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB).
Lastly, we want to remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God (John 14:6, WEB). If you have not already, make sure to confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior, believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. This is the foundation of our faith and our hope (Romans 10:9, WEB).
