Hello and thank you for whoever took the time to read this prayer request and prayed upon it. Thank you.
Around 10 years ago I started working at the Assessor Department in my local County. The department I work at is separated into 2 sections, business and real property. I work in the business property section. Within the last 10 years there has been numerous career advancement opportunities in the real property section. It has not been unusual to see people working there for around 1 year to move up the ladder fairly quickly – this is due to massive retirements and the need to fill in those vacant spots. On the other side where I work, I have been working close to a decade and only had one opportunity for career advancement. The person that interviewed me got his position because he happened to be friends with the head “honcho” at the time. Throughout the interview he belittled me, said nothing I did for the department impressed me, put down the tie color shirt color combination I was wearing, and said he was looking for the “intangibles and it factor” which I did not possess. Throughout the end of this ordeal he ended up promoting only people of the same color as him or people that he had prior relations with – basically hooking up his friends. Also as a side note, the person that interviewed me along with his cronies are currently being sued and will have to appear in court in October of 2016.
After this whole ordeal I requested a transfer to the real property section, which was denied. Their reasoning was “I am a good worker and currently the highest producer” so in their minds they don’t want to let me go. The problem is I am the highest producer, but they do not wish to promote me, instead they promote their friends. If anyone has ever watched Shawshank Redemption, I feel like Tim Robbins character. Currently used and abused without a way out.
I understand I will never be promoted, all I want is a chance to move to the other side in real property to show my worth, work hard, and hopefully one day be able to have some kind of career advancement if possible.
I would like to request a chance to move to the real property side. Currently I feel like no one is listening to me, people have abandoned me, and hope is lost as far as my career is concerned. Also I pray that when the lawsuit begins in October of 2016 that justice will prevail and that these people will not get away with such abuse of their power.
