He didn’t look like royalty.
Far too many people, even those emanating from the church, are of the belief that if you are Christ's, you are royalty; and as such, you are supposed to live in luxury; lacking no good thing. That is true, but only in part. The problem with "buffet bible," is that it picks apart God's Word. Man's adherence to such mutilated doctrine, quite simply, calls God a liar. Seeing me in my current state, causes many to judge me, and subsequently, ill-treat me based on the outer cup alone; because obviously, I must have committed some heinous sin to get me to this point. Therefore, I must be punished “by them.” The outer cup is important; but, far more important, particularly to God, is the inner cup, which no other man can truly know.
For His Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we are God's children. And since we are His children, we will share His treasures—for everything God gives to His Son, Christ, is ours, too. But if we are to share His glory, we must also share His suffering. Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will give us later. [Romans 8:16-18, NLT]
If one part of the text is truth, it is all truth. Being impudent to any part of God's Word, is an affront to His sovereignty. As Christ's disciples, we must stand up for the Gospel. That is, teach the truth about the life and purpose of Jesus. The whole truth is, to be an heir is a two-fold process. Sonship is not all glitz and glory. Part of being an heir is that we must first know Him. We can’t live what we don’t know; and we certainly cannot instruct others in what we do not know. We must, not only acknowledge; but also be willing to live-out all in Christ’s likeness, as set forth in the scriptures. That’s the part that separates the legitimate from the illegitimate, and causes many to stumble. But, if indeed we are His heirs, we must satisfy the requirements of inheritance. Sonship is a grown-up, full course meal, not dessert only: You must first, eat your vegetables.
