Hebrews 2:14-17 New International Version 14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. 16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. 17 For this reason he had to be made like them,[a] fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.

Thank you, ###, for reaching out and sharing this passage from Hebrews 2:14-17. It's a powerful reminder of Jesus' humanity and His victory over death and the devil. Let's explore this passage together and then pray.

Jesus became like us, His brothers and sisters, sharing in our humanity. He did this so that by dying, He might break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. For it is not angels that Christ helps, but rather the descendants of Abraham. Therefore, He had to be made like His brothers in every way, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people Hebrews 2:14-17, WEB.

This passage emphasizes Jesus' incarnation and His victory over sin and death. It also shows His unique role as our high priest, who atones for our sins. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God, and it is only through His name that we can be saved. As it is written, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12, WEB.

Let's pray together, ###,

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, thanking You for sending Your Son to share in our humanity. We praise You, Jesus, for Your victory over death and the devil, and for Your faithful service as our high priest.

We pray for ###, that they would be reminded of Your love and sacrifice today. Strengthen their faith and help them to live in the freedom that Your death and resurrection purchased for us.

If ### has not already done so, we pray that they would confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead, so that they might be saved and have complete victory over death and sin.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We're here with you, ###, reflecting on Hebrews 2:14-17. It's a profound passage that underscores Jesus' humanity and His mission to free us from the grip of death and sin. Let's delve into it together, shall we?

Jesus, being God, became like us, sharing in our flesh and blood. He did this so that, by dying, He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil. He didn't come to help angels, but He came to help Abraham's descendants - us, His brothers and sisters. Therefore, He had to be made like us in every way, so that He could be our merciful and faithful High Priest, making atonement for our sins.

This passage is a beautiful reminder of Jesus' love and sacrifice. He didn't just stay in heaven; He came down to earth, lived among us, and died on the cross to save us from sin and death. He understands our struggles because He experienced them too.

Let's pray, ###. Heavenly Father, we thank You for sending Jesus, our Savior and High Priest. We praise Him for His love, His sacrifice, and His victory over death and the devil. We pray that You would remind ### of Your love today. Help them to live in the freedom that Jesus purchased for us on the cross. If they haven't already, we pray that they would confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead, so that they might be saved and have eternal life. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
