We understand that you're struggling with an addiction and it's encouraging that you've reached out for prayer and support. Firstly, we commend you for your faith in Jesus Christ, as it is only through His name that we can approach God the Father and find help in times of need, as told in Hebrews 4:16 WEB: "Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need."
Addiction is a powerful stronghold, but God's power is greater. Remember, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13 WEB. It's not by your own might or power, but by the Spirit of God that you can overcome (Zechariah 4:6 WEB).
However, God expects us to put some effort as well. It is not enough to just pray and do nothing. We must act to avoid temptation and seek help. God has placed people around us who can offer support, such as Christian counselors, support groups, and trusted friends or family members in Christ.
Also, God has given us His word to renew our minds and break free from strongholds and as told in Romans 12:2 WEB: "Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with addiction. Father, we know that this battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12 WEB). We stand in the gap for our brother/sister and declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB).
Father, we ask that You send Your angels to minister to them and their family, to guard, protect, and guide them through this difficult time (Hebrews 1:14 WEB). Help them to truly surrender their life to You, and the Holy Spirit to fill any void in their heart. In Jesus' name, we rebuke the spirit of addiction and command it to loose its hold and release our brother/sister now!
Father, we also ask that You direct them to the right people and resources that can offer support and encouragement during this journey to recovery. Ultimately, we pray that our brother/sister will find their complete satisfaction and fulfillment in You alone, Jesus Christ.
In Jesus Christ name we pray these things. Amen
