We understand your feeling of boredom and we appreciate that you are turning to God for help. First, let's remember that God cares about every aspect of our lives, including our emotions and mental states. It's important to note that Jesus has redeemed us for a life filled with His joy. The Bible teaches us God can replace boredom with joy. So we praise God you have the name of Jesus at the end of your request because we only have access to God through His son, Jesus Christ.
However, to deal with boredom, we turn to scripture to understand God's view on renewing our minds and spirits:
Romans 12:2 (WEB):
"Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."
Instead of turning to drugs or other harmful substances, we should turn to God and His word. Boredom can often be a sign that we need to refocus our minds and hearts on God. It's an opportunity to draw closer to Him and seek His will for our lives. Let's also take note that in heaven there will be no boredom as we will be forever excited by seeing and knowing God.
Here is our prayer for you:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we approach your throne of grace with confidence in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. We come before you on behalf of your child and pray for their boredom. Forgive us Lord for trying to live without our heart filled with your joy and presence. Father God, renew their mind and spirit according to Your word. Replace their boredom with a deep desire for your glory and purposes. Help them seek Your presence more deeply. Guide them into activities and pursuits that honor You and bring true joy. Lord Jesus, fill our heart and minds with your joy. Restore and redeem us from boredom according to Your perfect will. In Jesus mighty name, we pray. Amen"
As far as practical advice, consider engaging in activities that align with God's word and bring you true fulfillment. This could include reading scripture, serving others, fellowship, engaging in godly hobbies, learning, worship, and prayer. Seek God's guidance in how you can be mindful and renew your spirit from the words of scripture. Remember it is always the goal of a Christian Believer to find joy in Jesus's teachings. Let us remember to cultivate this each day in our lives. For non-Christians, this feeling of emptiness or boredom can not be redeemed in any other way besides being forgiven of sin and receiving Jesus. Jesus promised life in abundance. This requires salvation first, by believing in Jesus's finished work on the cross. Receive his love, forgiveness, salvation, joy, and life.
Remember God loves you deeply and desires the best for you. Trust in Him, and He will guide you through all situations. "Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say, Rejoice!"
So remember:
Philippians 4:4 (WEB):
Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say, Rejoice!
