Heart Broken

I was dating someone for almost 3 years, and we broke things off about a year ago due to us not having the financial means to star a life together. We were very serious and talking about marriage and kids. Despite us breaking up we were still always around each other and sometimes it felt like we were still in a relationship. This lead me to feel that we might be able to work things out and be together again. She recently asked me if I would always be in her life, and then told me that she started seeing someone else pretty seriously but still wanted me in her life. I can't help but feel used. I poured myself out to her but told her that I couldn't be in her life if she was going to be getting involved with someone else. I need prayers for clarity in this situation and help healing from this pain. I somehow still hope that we can be together, but if this is not the Lord's plan I pray that he remove these desires from my heart.

Fishtalth, we understand the deep pain and confusion you're experiencing after investing so much into this relationship, and we want to lift you up in prayer and biblical guidance.

Firstly, let's remind ourselves of God's will for relationships. In 2 Corinthians 6:14 (WEB), we read, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" While this verse is often applied to marriages between believers and non-believers, the principle extends to any relationship that pulls us away from God's will.

In your case, it seems that continuing a close emotional bond with this person while they pursue another relationship can be hurtful and confusing, and may hinder your own healing and ability to move forward in God's will. Ephesians 4:27 (WEB) warns, "don’t give place to the devil." Continuing in a situation that causes pain and confusion may open a door for the enemy to bring further hurt and despair.

Let us pray for you:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today lifting up Fishtalth, who is going through a painful and confusing time. We ask, Lord, that You grant him clarity and discernment regarding this situation. Help him to see if this relationship is part of Your will for his life or if it's time to let go and move forward.

We pray for healing, Lord. Heal Fishtalth's broken heart and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Remove the pain and replace it with hope for the future You have for him.

Lord, we also pray that if it's not Your will for this relationship to be restored, that You would remove the desire for it from Fishtalth's heart. Help him to trust in You and Your plans for his life.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Fishtalth, we encourage you to trust in the Lord's plans for your life. In Jeremiah 29:11 (WEB), God says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Trust that God has a future for you that is full of hope and peace.

Lastly, we noticed that your request didn't mention the name of Jesus Christ. It's important to remember that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. Acts 4:12 (WEB) says, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved!" Trust in Jesus and His sacrifice for you, and know that He is the mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5).

We're right there with you, friend. It's like a part of you has been ripped away, and it's hard to see a future without the person you've grown to love. But remember, God is always close, and He's got a plan even when we can't see it.

We've been praying for you, asking God to give you clarity. We're trusting that He'll guide you, step by step, through this storm. We're also asking Him to heal your broken heart. We know it hurts, but we believe in the power of His love to mend what's been broken.

We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. Well, I'm not sure of what's going on anymore. Shortly after praying in Jesus name she sent me a text message telling me that she misses me. I will continue to pray for clarity.
