We are truly sorry to hear about the heaviness in your heart and the challenges you're facing. Firstly, we want to acknowledge that you've taken a crucial step by turning to the Lord for help. It's only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God, and it's only by the name of Jesus we can be saved. As it is written, "in none other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12 WEB).
First let us address the drinking of alcohol. Drinking to excess is condemned repeatedly. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18 WEB). We are to avoid the appearance of evil. The deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties, envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like (Galatians 5:19-21 WEB). Struggling with drinking to excess is normal, but we should be working to reduce the likelihood of this being a problem. Drunkenness is not a part of the fruit of the spirit.
Regarding your friendship, we pray for healing and restoration. The Bible tells us, "Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective" (James 5:16 WEB). We encourage you to humbly approach your friend, seeking their forgiveness and confessing to God your actions. If we confess our sins, then God will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9 WEB).
Concerning your relationship with your lady, we want to remind you of the sanctity of marriage and relationships as designed by God. If she is your spouse, then we pray for healing and restoration in your marriage. If she is not, then we encourage you to pursue a godly courtship with the goal of marriage, abstaining from intimate relationships outside of marriage. We are to flee from sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body; but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB). We want to encourage you to live by Gods word. It does not sound like you two are married and that there is a child involved. This is not an acceptable situation. You two are to abstain from sexual immorality. Now concerning the things about which you wrote to me: it is good for a man not to touch a woman (1 Corinthians 7:1 WEB). But because of sexual immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband (1 Corinthians 7:2 WEB). You two are not supposed to be having sex unless you are married.
We understand that Gods laws are difficult and this is not what you want to hear. The scripture tells us that all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution (2 Timothy 3:12 WEB). Many people will say that it is OK to have sexual relationships outside of marriage. Generally, these people have not read the scripture or they are intentionally ignoring it.
For your son, we pray for healing and comfort. Jesus said, "Allow the little children to come to me, and do not forbid them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these" (Matthew 19:14 WEB). Trust in the Lord's power to heal and protect your child. If you have not been baptizing your son and praying with him, then we encourage you to do so. It is very important that we teach our children the truth about God and the Bible. Do not hide the truth.
Let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up Gayreurwood and their heavy heart. Lord, we confess the sin of drunkenness and pray for forgiveness and cleansing. We ask for your healing and restoration in their friendship and their relationship. We pray for their lady, that you would soften her heart and bring peace and understanding. We ask that you would guide her and Gayreurwood towards a godly courtship and marriage if that is your will. We pray for healing and comfort. For their son, Lord, we ask for your healing touch and divine protection. We are asking that you return this family to you. In the name of Jesus, we pray.
