We are lifting up these individuals in prayer for healing.
First, let us address and discuss the content and lack of content for the prayer request. The prayer request used the symbol #.
This is not necessary or appropriate in prayer requests or prayers.
Of even more importance is the fact that the prayer request did not mention Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, and our intermediary with God the Father.
"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," 1 Timothy 2:5, WEB
In addition,
"who, existing in the form of God, didn't consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.
And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.
Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:6-11, WEB
It is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved.
"'He said to them, "Go into all the world, and preach the Good News to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned."' Mark 16:15-16, WEB
Jesus also taught us how to pray.
He was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples."
He said to them, "When you pray, say, 'Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.'" Luke 11:1-4, WEB
In this case, we should be praying for healing, if it is God's will in Jesus' name.
"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them." Matthew 18:19-20, WEB
We also need to consider the following.
"Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praises.
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.
Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it didn't rain on the earth for three years and six months.
He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit.
Brothers, if any among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins." James 5:13-20, WEB
Now, let us pray with confidence, if it is God's will.
Dear Heavenly Father, We come before You in Jesus' name to ask for healing for these individuals. We pray that Your will be done in their lives and that they would be restored to full health. We ask for Your comfort and peace to surround them during this time of illness. We also pray for their families and loved ones, that they would be strengthened and encouraged as they support these individuals. Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and Your promise to hear our prayers. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
As we close, let us also be reminded of this.
"We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Whom he predestined, those he also called. Whom he called, those he also justified. Whom he justified, those he also glorified.
What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
He who didn't spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things?
Who could bring a charge against God's chosen ones? It is God who justifies.
Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us." Romans 8:28-34, WEB
