We are truly saddened to hear about the pain and heart was shattered due to a spouse's infidelity, and are here to pray and offer guidance during these trying time. Firstly, it's crucial to turn to God in this season, for He is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18 WEB. We should be reminded that God has a plan and purpose even in the midst of this trial, He intends all things to work together for good for those who love Him and those whom He has called according to His purpose Romans 8:28 WEB.
It is important not to seek revenge or wish harm on the spouse, but rather to pray for them and their repentance. If they remain unrepentant and continue in their adultery or refuse to faithfully commit to the marriage, then separation and eventually divorce is permitted. Jesus himself said, The one who commits adultery with another man's wife. And the man who commits adultery with another man's wife, and he who marries her when she is divorced from another husband, commits adultery Matthew 5:32 WEB. But our first and best action must be to pray for them.
The injury and pain from infidelity is real. Trust can seem shattered and irreparable. The options to remain or leave to find a new Christian spouse is available if reconciliations proves to be impossible.
As children of God, we are to seek God in all aspects of our lives. This is actually a tad bit encouraging to this situation in that the issue of the infidelity can only be resolved by prayer and God must be consulted and obeyed in the resolution. Pray for greater faith, a miracle to the heart, strength and wisdom, so as to the path to follow.
Praying together for healing and guidance
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this child, suffering from a broken heart due to infidelity. We pray for Your healing touch, that You would mend their heart and bind up their wounds. In Jesus' name, we rebuke the spirits of rejection, abandonment, and heartache that may be tormenting them right now.
We ask for Your guidance in this confusing time. Grant them the wisdom to make decisions that align with Your will. If it is Your desire for this marriage to be restored, then guide them through the process of reconciliation and healing with their spouse, just as You have forgiven each of us of so much. If it is not, then we ask that You make that abundantly clear and prepare their heart to move on in a godly manner.
Help them to forgive, as You have forgiven us through the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. We do not forgive because it is easy or because it feels good. Indeed, it is difficult. But we forgive because it is what You would have us do.
Finally Father, guide them as they navigate this painful chapter of life. We ask that You would be their source of comfort, strength, and peace. Let them be affirmed and made whole as a child of God, led by their Savior Jesus. In the precious name of Jesus we conclude, Amen.
Stay strong and be encouraged, keep praying and studying the Word of God to rebuild and to find the next steps. Psalm 147:3 WEB He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.
