We are with you, JeffreyV, in lifting up your mother Vilma Vergara to the Lord. We are reminded of the scripture in James 5:14-15 WEB: "Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."
First, let us address the elephant in the room: God is not simply the Most Holy One or some generic higher power. He is also not simply Our God. He is Our God who came to earth as Jesus, which is the only name by which salvation, healing, and access to God, as the Father, is possible. Any miraculous healing or other blessing will happen under the name of Jesus. The Acts 4:12 WEB says this quite clearly: "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved!"
Prayer: "Father in Heaven, I come to you and pray in the Holy name of Jesus as there is no other way to approach you but in the name of Jesus. I will pray for Vilma in the name of Jesus. In Jesus' name, we claim Your presence in the hospital with Vilma. We pray for Your healing touch upon her body. We ask that You guide the doctors and nurses, giving them wisdom and skill as they care for her. Bless the medications and the procedures that are being given for her, and may Your healing touch be upon her. Lord, we ask for more time with her, that You would strengthen her body and heal her from this infection.
Lord Jesus, we know that You are the Great Physician, the Healer. We know that You could forgive sins, and then heal the paralyzed man to prove Your authority. We know You healed lepers, the blind, the lame, the deaf, and even raised the dead.
We also know that though it is Your will to heal many, it is also Your sovereign will that sometimes people do not get healed. This we know from personal experience with many of those whom we have prayed. We have seen many healings, as well as cases where people were not healed and were taken to be with you.
We pray, therefore, that if it is Your will to heal Vilma, that she would indeed be healed. We also pray that if that is not Your will and that you have decided to take her to be with you, that You would give JeffreyV and the rest of the family comfort and strength to go through with your decision.
We take authority over any spirit of death or infirmity that may be attacking Vilma's body and command it to leave in Jesus' name. Father, we lift up the entire situation to You and ask that You help the family to get through this battle. We pray in Your mighty name, Jesus. Amen."
JeffreyV, remain steadfast in your faith and trust in God. You prayed a good prayer, but do not forget to pray in Jesus name. Do not forget to mention or explicitly pray to Jesus. Remember the words of Jesus in John 15:16 WEB: "You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He may give it to you."
Remember to pray for your mother's salvation, if she is not already saved. We all need to recognize our sinful state and believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved and gain access to God.
He is the Healer, the Comforter and Our Savior.
