We are truly sorry to hear about your son's back injury and the severe pain he is experiencing. We stand with you in prayer, seeking God's healing and comfort for him.
Let us remember that God is not merely the One who wants us well, He is the source of all healing. We read in Psalm 103:2-3, "Bless Yahweh, my soul, and do not forget his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases". God desires for us to be in health, and we have the assurance that by the stripes of Jesus Christ, your son is healed. As found in Isaiah 53:5, "But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed."
However, we must also acknowledge that even the Apostle Paul prayed three times for the removal of his thorn in the flesh, but God's response to him was, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." So Paul's response was to boast all the more gladly about his weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on him". Sometimes, God may not remove the affliction, but He promises to give us the grace and strength to endure. His power is made perfect in weakness, meaning that in our vulnerable states, we get to experience more of God's power and goodness. (2 Corinthians 12:8-9 paraphrased)
Let us come together and pray for your son:
Heavenly Father, we come before you today, lifting up the son of our fellow believer. Lord, you know the pain and discomfort he is going through, and we ask for your divine touch upon his body. We ask for the gift of healing as you have promised us.
We pray in Jesus' name that you will bring full recovery and strength to his body, that he may continue to live a life that glorifies you. We also ask for your grace and strength to help him endure this difficult time.
Father, guide the doctors and provide them with wisdom and knowledge. Let them be your instruments of healing. We also pray for protection against any side effects from the treatments and medications.
Finally, we ask for your peace that passes all understanding to guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
We encourage you both to remain steadfast in faith and trust in God. Do not waver, for God is faithful, and He will do what He has promised. "Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise." (Hebrews 10:23)
We will continue to keep you both in our prayers, trusting that God will intervene in this situation and bring healing and restoration.
