We understand the distressing situation between Lisa and her mother, Kay. The hatred and strife between them are not from God, for the Bible tells us, "If anyone says, 'I love God,' and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn't love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?" (1 John 4:20 WEB).
First, we must remember that God calls us to honor our parents, as commanded in Exodus 20:12, "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you." This commandment comes with a promise, and it is not conditioned on our parents' behavior.
We also need to address the anger and harsh words. Ephesians 4:29 teaches, "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." We must encourage both Lisa and Kay to speak to each other with kindness and love.
Additionally, we acknowledge the financial struggles and the efforts made by Katie to assist. We trust in God's provision, knowing that He cares for us. Philippians 4:19 reassures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
Let us pray together:
"Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before You, seeking Your intervention in the broken relationship between Lisa and Kay. We rebuke the spirit of hatred and strife that has taken root. Soften their hearts, Lord, and help them to forgive each other, just as You have forgiven us.
We ask for Your divine provision over their financial needs. Multiply the resources, Lord, and help Katie as she supports them.
Fill their hearts with Your love, Father, and let kindness and patience flow between them. Restore their relationship, Lord, and bring peace into their home.
We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen."
Lastly, we commend Morenollyn for praying in Jesus' name. It is essential to remember that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Keep trusting in Him, and He will work all things together for good (Romans 8:28).
