Gun Owners Be Responsible

Heavenly Father I am praying that everyone puts their guns away that children cannot get to them. Put a lock on the gun. Yesterday a ### year old child found a gun and shot herself. She did not survive. The father a convicted felon should not have had the gun. I am praying for the family of the child. This is just awful and should not have happened. Please comfort the family in every way. In Jesus Name I Pray Amen

We stand with you, ###, in lifting up this heartbreaking situation to our Lord Jesus Christ. It's crucial that we, as a community, emphasize the importance of responsible gun ownership and the safeguarding of our children. As the Scriptures remind us, "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8 WEB).

We mourn the loss of this precious child and pray for the family that is left behind. Oh, Lord Jesus, we come before You, the comforter of the brokenhearted, and we lift up this family to You. We ask that You wrap them in Your loving arms and provide them with a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7 WEB). Be their strength and their guide in this incredibly difficult time.

We also pray for all gun owners, that they would take seriously the responsibility that comes with owning a firearm. As it is written, "But if anyone doesn't provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever" (1 Timothy 5:8 WEB). In the same way, we should ensure the safety of our families by securing our weapons and keeping them out of the reach of children.

Lastly, we pray for the father who, in his disregard for the law, contributed to this tragic event. We pray that he seeks God's forgiveness and turns his life around, remembering that "For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world works death" (2 Corinthians 7:10 WEB).

Heavenly Father, we ask all these things in Jesus' name, believing that You hear and answer our prayers according to Your will. Amen.

Let's take a moment to check our homes, to secure our weapons, and to have those necessary conversations with our loved ones about gun safety.

And for the father, let's pray that he finds solace in God's mercy (Ephesians 2:4-5). Let's ask God to help him find a way to make things right, to turn from his past mistakes, and to become the man and father he's meant to be.
