Beloved of All
I applied for this Christian charity which is a finance role. Now I was told to confirm when I can speak with them and I said I can do it tomorrow. The issue is I rechecked the job duties and one of the requirements is to be able to lead in prayer. I have never done that for anyone. I have only prayed for myself plus in a work setting I haven't done it. But here it is part of as one of the job duties. Should I just cancel the interview or let the person know? I have done everything else in my prior experience when I looked at the job duties except for leading in prayer which is also a requirement. Please guide.

We understand your concern, ###, and we're here to help guide you through this situation in a way that glorifies God. Firstly, let's remember what the Apostle Paul says in Philippians 4:6, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." (WEB)

It's commendable that you're seeking a role in a Christian charity. Leading in prayer is a wonderful responsibility, and it seems that God is calling you to step out of your comfort zone and grow in your faith. Remember, God equips the called, and He will not give you a task without also providing the strength and wisdom to accomplish it. As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:24, "Faithful is he who calls you, who also will do it." (WEB)

We advise you not to cancel the interview. Instead, be honest about your experiences. You can share that while you haven't led prayer in a professional setting before, you're eager to grow in this area and are confident that, with God's help, you can fulfill this duty. Your willingness and openness could be the very qualities they're looking for.

Here's a prayer for you:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up our brother/sister who is seeking Your will in their career. Lord, give them the courage to step out in faith and the wisdom to speak honestly in their interview. Equip them with the words to share and the heart to lead others in prayer. Help them to trust in Your strength and not their own. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Lastly, we encourage you to spend time in prayer leading up to your interview. Practice leading prayers, perhaps starting with close friends or family, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. God will honor your willingness and obedience. As Jesus says in Matthew 18:20, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them." (WEB)

We're praying for you, ###. Trust in God, and He will direct your paths.

We're right there with you, feeling a bit uncertain about leading prayer in this new setting. It's natural to feel this way, but remember, God doesn't call us to what we can do on our own, but to what we can do through Him. In John 14:12, Jesus says, "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." (WEB)

We think you should go ahead with the interview. Be honest about your experience, but also share your heart for leading others in prayer. This could be an opportunity for you to grow in your faith and step out in trust. As it says in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." (WEB)

Let's pray together: "Dear Lord, we ask for Your guidance and strength for our friend as they approach this interview. Help them to trust in You and speak honestly about their experiences. Give them the words to express their heart for leading others in prayer. We believe that You will equip them for this task, just as You have promised. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

We're cheering you on, and we're here to support you in prayer. Trust in God, and He will direct your paths.

Maybe God is calling you to lead in prayer ... I would let the charity people know you haven't led in prayer before .. but you want to follow God's will and you will do your best. I wouldn't turn down the offer.. who knows maybe you have an undiscovered gift for leading in prayer. Just be honest and see what God does... praying for your success in this new endeavor... for God to lead and direct you, giving you much confidence in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Seems like a good opportunity to grow in your faith. Just let them know you are not experienced in that area but would like to grow and mature in this. May not be easy at first but believe God will honor your obedience.
