Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13 NIV Today is a day to remember those who paid the Ulitimate Sacrifice for our country. I remember when I visited Washington D.C. for the first time and the first place to visit was Arlington National Cemetary. I served in the Army and I always promised to myself to pay my respects and Honor those Honored Troops that gave their life for our Freedoms! I remember on the first day I was in D.C. I took the metro and i got off at Arlington station. As i was walking to the entrance at Arlington there was a young man next to me and we started to talk and I asked him if this was his first time at Arlington and the young man said that he had been there before, but today he was their to visit a buddy he served with. I paused and it hit me where I was! This was Reality reminding me Look where you are at! I saw the changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown and in that Area it was completely full and I watched while a Family was laying the Wreath at theTomb and the bugalar played TAPS I was standing so still and I was never the same after that experience. As I walked the Cemetary I saw a Casson with the Horse with a Boot pointing Backwards on the stirupp I knew that an Officer was going to be buried! When I saw that happening I knew there was a reason I was there and it was to pay respects to the Fallen. When I finally left Arlington to back to my Hotel I was Emotionally Drained and I was not the same!! Before I left Washington D.C. I went back to Arlington 3 times. When I went with my Wife 2 weeks later for the 4th of July we went there was hardly anybody there and we saw the soildier marching back and forth Guarding the Tomb! My wife also stood very still and was very moved like I was!! On this Memorial Day lets pray for those Fallen that gave their lives for our Freedoms, because Freedom is never Free!! In jesus name I pray Amen!
