We join you, Marte, in lifting up your grandmother before the throne of grace, trusting in the precious name of Jesus Christ, as it is written: "For 'Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.'" (Romans 10:13 WEB).
Firstly, we acknowledge that God is the ultimate comforter and protector. As the Psalmist says, "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for you, Lord, alone make me live in safety." (Psalm 4:8 WEB). We pray that your grandmother feels God's presence and peace, knowing that He is near her, and He cares for her. (1 Peter 5:7 WEB).
While we understand your desire for your grandmother to be free from pain and fear, and to be at peace, we must remember that God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB). He may choose to heal her and give her more time on this earth, or He may decide to take her home to be with Him. Either way, we trust in His sovereign will.
However, we must address that we ought not to pray for death, even if the intention is to end suffering. God is the author of life, and He determines the number of our days. (Psalm 139:16 WEB). Instead, we pray for God's will to be done, for Him to grant strength, comfort, and peace to your grandmother in her time of need.
We also pray for you, Marte, that God would fill you with His peace and strengthen your faith in this time. Remember the words of Jesus: "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27 WEB).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Marte's grandmother to You. We pray for Your will to be done in her life, for Your peace and comfort to envelop her, and for Your presence to be ever near her. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
