We understand that you're feeling discouraged after not completing the fast as you had hoped, but we want to remind you that God's mercies are new every morning. In Lamentations 3:22-23 WEB, it says, "It is of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness."
Firstly, we commend you for approaching this situation with humility and for acknowledging your need for God's help. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 WEB, God says, "if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land."
Remember, fasting is not about perfection, but about drawing closer to God. In Matthew 6:16-18 WEB, Jesus teaches us about fasting and says, "Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you."
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our brother/sister who has reached out to You with a humble heart. Lord, they have stumbled in their fast, but we know that Your mercies are new every morning. Father, help them to start over again tomorrow, equipped with Your strength, will, direction, hopefulness, joy, love, and presence.
Guide them through this fast, Lord, and draw them closer to You. Help them to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged, dear brother/sister. God is with you, and He is for you. Keep pressing on, and remember that God's grace means you get another chance.
