We join you, Anonymous, in praying for your daughter M and the young man Z, trusting in the promise that when we gather in Jesus' name, He is among us, and when we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up M and Z. We ask that You would grow them in their relationship with You and with each other. Guide them through the challenges they face as a young couple, granting them grace, mercy, and patience. Help them to always seek to understand and support one another in their individual challenges, bearing with one another in love, even as You have loved us and borne with us.
Lord, we pray for Z to have discernment regarding generational strongholds. Give him boldness in what You have called him to, and help him to honor M, even when faced with unfair criticism. We stand against any attempt of the enemy to divide them, and we declare that what the enemy means for harm, You will turn around for good, making them stronger and more resolved in their commitment to each other and to You. Lord, You tell us in Your Word, and we should be equally yoked in marriage. Being in a relationship with someone who does not follow Christ or is not a Christian, can lead us astray and is forbidden in your word. Make sure this does not happen to them.
Father, we know that it is not your good will for couple to be in sexual relationships before marriage. We ask that you convict them and guide them in living according to your word which states You, God prescribed that the only appropriate place for sexual activity and expression is in the covenant of marriage. You tell us that sex before marriage and sex outside of marriage is fornication and it is called sin. In Your word, You give us a warning. First Thessalonians chapter 4 verses 3-5 states For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don't know God.
Lord, bring M and Z together to follow You in every area of their lives. They need to turn and live for you in a way that pleases you. Father forgive them for their sins. If they confess their sin, you are faithful to forgive their sin. Cleanse them from all unrighteousness. Lord guide them to live for you. Father forgive them for sexual immorality and fornication. They need to put this sin out of their life. Father, they need to live in harmony with You in every area of their lives right now on earth until they are married and for every area of their marriage for the rest of their lives. Help them to honor You and respect each other especially in this area that your word prescribes.
Father, they need to put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13:14. Father, your word commands those who are stealing must steal no more, but rather toil, working with his own hands the thing that is good, that they may have something to give to him who has need. Ephesians 4:28.
Father they cannot continue to steal what does not belong to them. The sexuality of other people does not belong to them until marriage. They each need to work with their own sexuality, toiling to respect and treat each other in honor instead of taking from one another as a thief does taking in fornication.
Father, they need to focus on blessing each other and other people through their hard work instead of adultery and taking what is not theirs.
Father, if this relationship cannot honor and obey you, then it should not be allowed to continue. Father guide them on whether to continue in a courtship and if they cannot honor you in a courtship, guide them to end this relationship. Help them to love each other enough to honor you and each other until marriage and throughout marriage and for all their lives.
Father God, they need to obey your word in any area that is possibly missing for their lives. Father God they need to obey the the great commission. They need to obey any area possibly missing in their lives. Father God, help them confess Jesus Christ before men. Help them read and obey your word daily in prayer and action.
Father we thank you for hearing our prayers. We ask that you would work in their lives and that you would watch over them and protect them as a couple and as individuals. Help them to obey your word throughout their lives. Father let your will be done.
Galatians 6:7 WEB Be not deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap everlasting life. Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do what is good towards all men, and especially towards the household of the faith.
Father now we bring you anything that we have missed in this prayer. Father we bring you anything we were unaware of in this situation. We ask that you would bless them in every area that needs your assistance guide them with your word call a personal relationship with you to them. Father, we call a call to salvation and the baptism of the Holy Spirit upon their lives. Father we consider unintentional offenses in this prayer and request. We ask that you would forgive everyone involved in this relationship and related to this relationship. Lord we pray for our marriages and the marriages of those we pray for. Guide us in our obedience to You in every area of our lives. Father they need to be made holy and clean.
Father we call their need for forgiveness to You. They need to forgive each other and other people. Father we call the convicting work of the Holy Spirit into their heart. Father we cannot bring up every possible area of their lives, so we depend on you to work in their lives to bring conviction and bring guidance to them. Father guide them in their walk with you. Their Christian walk. We thank you father for listening to our prayer. In the name of Jesus Christ.
Father we thank you for every prayer we have lifted up. Father we call you guiding fatherly work into their lives. Father most of all we thank you for Jesus Christ. Father you are loving and great.
Amen.
We encourage M and Z to stand firm in the faith, be courageous, and strong, knowing that You, Lord, are with them. They could also prepare their relationship for marriage and consider godly marriage counseling to help them navigate their relationship challenges. Your word states Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. Hebrews 13:4.
God reminds us in your word that we are called to be married in a way that honors you in the covenant of marriage. God reminds us that a wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives; but if the husband dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 7:39. God your word states Genesis 2:24 For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
Jesus Christ reminds us in Matthew 19:3-6 stating some Pharisees came to him, testing him, and saying to him, Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason? He answered, Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh? So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, do not let man tear apart.
We need to obey God rather than men. They need to turn from their wicked ways so that You will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Father, they need to humble themselves and pray and seek your face and turn from their wicked ways. This includes their sexuality. They need to obey you in Jesus Name.
Father your word tells us While they promised to keep their vows, I was looking for an opportunity to be unfaithful. Proverbs 7:6-10. Let's not deceive ourselves into thinking it's acceptable to have premarital sex as long as we intend to marry the person. As followers of Jesus, we're called to obedience and to prove our faith with holy actions. God wants more for us than we want for ourselves — this includes our relationships. Remember, your love story is also a God story. God is the most important part of their relationship. God guides us to be holy in every area of our lives. God will hold each of us accountable to obeying Him in every area of our lives. This includes our Christian walk.
May the God of hope fill them with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit they may abound in hope.
Romans 15:13
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Souls in Philippians 4:8.
2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? Christ has no concord with Belial, neither part with an unbeliever; 15 or what agreement has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people. 16 Therefore, 'Come out from among them, And be separate,' says the Lord, 'Touch no unclean thing. I will receive you. 17 I will be to you a Father. You will be to me sons and daughters,' Says the Lord Almighty.
7:1 Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
