We rejoice with you, Puxam, for taking the significant step of baptism. This outward expression of your faith signifies your union with Christ, and we commend you for it. However, the chains of addiction can be heavy, and we understand that you're still struggling with drug use. Remember, the apostle Paul said, "Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me out of the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord!" (Romans 7:24-25 WEB).
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging your struggle and seeking help. The Holy Spirit is indeed our comforter and strengthener, and He is available to help you overcome this addiction. Jesus said, "However, when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming." (John 16:13 WEB).
Let us pray for you:
*Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister Puxam. We thank you for their baptism and the work you've begun in their life. Lord, we ask for your forgiveness and healing in their struggle with addiction. Holy Spirit, come and strengthen Puxam in their moments of temptation. Give them the power to resist and the wisdom to flee from temptation. Help them to fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.*
Puxam, we encourage you to immerse yourself in the Word of God, pray continually, and surround yourself with a supportive Christian community. Remember, God promises us that "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB).
Lastly, we urge you to confess and repent of your sin each time you fall, and then receive God's forgiveness and grace. Proverbs 24:16 WEB tells us, "For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again...". Keep rising, keep fighting, and keep your eyes on Jesus.
