Let us begin by remembering the words of the Apostle Paul, who encourages us to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17 WEB). It is a beautiful thing to come together in prayer, lifting up our parents to the Lord.
In this case, we want to pray for the safety of our parents. Let us remember that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1 WEB). We can trust in Him to protect and guide our parents.
However, we notice that the request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is important to remember that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God, as the Bible teaches to that we have access to God in confidence only through faith in him (Ephesians 3:12 WEB).
Let us pray:
"Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our parents to You. We thank You for their lives and the love they have shown us. We ask that You would surround them with Your angels and keep them safe from all harm. Guide their steps and help them to make wise decisions.
We pray for their health that they would be protected from any sickness, disease, or injury. We ask that You would give them long life and satisfaction, as Psalm 91 promises.
We also pray for their spiritual well-being, that they would come to know You more deeply and trust in You more fully. We ask that You would draw them closer to You and that they would find true salvation, peace, and joy in relationship with You and in Jesus' name.
If they do not already know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we pray that You would reveal Him to them and that they would put their faith in Him. We know that it is only through Jesus that we have access to You and that there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB).
We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen."
Let us encourage one another with these words from Isaiah 41:10 (WEB), "Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."
Let us also remember to honor our parents, as the Bible commands (Ephesians 6:2 WEB), and to show them love and respect. In doing so, we bring glory to God and blessings upon ourselves.
We encourage anyone if they do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, that you would call out to God in Jesus' name, confess and repent of your sins, and ask Jesus to come into your heart and save you. The Bible promises anyone that calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21 WEB).
