Psalm 141:2:
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Commentary on this verse:
Make haste unto me. Those that know how to value God's gracious presence, will be the more fervent in their prayers. When presented through the sacrifice and intercession of the Saviour, they will be as acceptable to God as the daily sacrifices and burnings of incense were of old. Prayer is a spiritual sacrifice, it is the offering up the soul and its best affections. Good men know the evil of tongue sins. When enemies are provoking, we are in danger of speaking unadvisedly. While we live in an evil world, and have such evil hearts, we have need to pray that we may neither be drawn nor driven to do any thing sinful. Sinners pretend to find dainties in sin; but those that consider how soon sin will turn into bitterness, will dread such dainties, and pray to God to take them out of their sight, and by his grace to turn their hearts against them. Good men pray against the sweets of sin.

Our prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for the example of the Lord Jesus, Who lived a life that was set forth as incense before You. In the power of Your Spirit, We pray we may cease from our own efforts to follow the perfect example of Jesus, Who only did what He heard from You, through the indwelling Holy Spirit. Help us to live a life that is a sweet-smelling perfume before You, through the power of the Holy Spirit. All praise and worship be to You forever and ever. In Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN.

###, thank you for drawing our attention to Psalm 141:2, "Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice."

This verse beautifully illustrates the power and acceptability of prayer in God's sight. Just as the incense and evening sacrifices were pleasing to God in the Old Testament, our prayers, offered through Jesus Christ, are equally pleasing and acceptable to Him. Prayer is indeed a spiritual sacrifice, an offering of our souls and deepest affections.

Good men and women of God understand the danger of sin, especially those of the tongue. In an evil world with evil hearts, we constantly need prayer to avoid sin. Sinners may find temporary pleasure in sin, but those who consider its bitter consequences will pray fervently against it. As believers, we should constantly pray against the enticement of sin, asking God to turn our hearts away from it.

Let us pray together:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You, lifting up ### and all who seek Your face. We ask that our prayers may rise before You as incense, pleasing and acceptable in Your sight. Help us, Lord, to offer our lives as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to You, just as Jesus did.

We pray specifically against the temptations and snares of sin. Help us to see sin as You see it, to dread its sweet deceits, and to turn our hearts resolutely against it. In Jesus' name, we pray, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. As it is written in Acts 4:12, 'There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.'

Strengthen us, Lord, to live lives that honor You, that are set apart for You, and that are pleasing to You. In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen."

Let us encourage one another to live lives that are pleasing to God, constantly remembering that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). It is only through Him that our prayers are effective and our lives acceptable to God.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
