Catch Twenty Two?
Just as Jesus sends His workers "As lambs in the midst of wolves," those to whom He sends them are likewise placed in a seemingly "set up" situation. If the wages then not a gift; if not a gift then no reward is due. Again "The worker is worthy of his wages." Yet, if the worker's wages are withheld, even in part, not only can't the city lay claim to a reward, but God is cheated out His tithes and offering. If you've cheated God in one thing; how then shall you expect to receive reward for the other? Void of repentance, turning, and reconciliation, all is forfeited.
"So if you are standing before the altar in the Temple, offering a sacrifice to God, and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there beside the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God. [Matthew 5:23-24]
Reconciliation clears your account with that individual(s). Howbeit, the testing of the city is not just about how you treat God's messenger, it's primary focus is how you treat Christ's Spirit, whom indwells the messenger, and the message itself which is wrought of the Spirit. So then, is it all an effort in futility? Not at all. Though it may seem somewhat catch twenty two, at the end of the day, God just wants man to operate in His Righteousness (Do things as He instructed simply because He instructed it). Give, not because you can get something in return; but give freely, out of compassion for one another, because that's how He gave to us.
While man honors the works of his hands; God is honored through the works of His Word. There is purpose for every single word, and none will go unfulfilled. Therefore, you must come prepared when called, not allowing yourselves to be carried away by strange doctrines (have your oil ready); otherwise you may not recognize the Groom, even when He shows up in the Spirit. You’ll find yourself engaging in all kinds of extracurricular activities to try and sneak, cheat, or steal that which God had previously placed in your hands. But, just as Jesus, in giving no second chance in testing, instructs His disciples not to go house to house, He likewise gives no second chance to the "unprepared ladies in waiting," who busy themselves with their own **willful works. Again, He refers to His cities in the effeminate.
"I don't think the way you think. The way you work isn't the way I work." God's Decree. "For as the sky soars high above earth, so the way I work surpasses the way you work, and the way I think is beyond the way you think. Just as rain and snow descend from the skies and don't go back until they've watered the earth, doing their work of making things grow and blossom, producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry, so will the WORDS that come out of My mouth not come back empty-handed. They'll do the WORK I sent them to do, they'll complete the assignment I gave them. [Isaiah 55:8-11, MSG]
God's Word works because His Word is His work, Therefore, above all else, He works His Word
**Cross Reference: [Matthew 6:33, GNT] Instead, be concerned above everything else, with THE KINGDOM OF GOD and with WHAT HE REQUIRES OF YOU, and he will provide you with all these other things.
God will never force you, but He repeatedly sends His messengers to warn you.
