We are truly saddened to hear about the emotional and mental abuse you are experiencing, especially when it is coming from someone who also professes to be a Christian. We commend you for your faith and your decision to give your life to the Lord Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God, and it is only by believing in Jesus Christ that we can be saved. **Remember** "in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him." Ephesians 3:12 WEB
Firstly, we want to address the issue of abuse. Abuse of any kind is not acceptable, and it goes against the teachings of Scripture. In Ephesians 4:32 WEB, we are told to "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." The behavior you described, which includes speaking down to you and using abusive language, is not reflective of the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23 WEB.
We also want to remind you to pray for those who mistreat you. Jesus said, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you," Matthew 5:44 WEB. This does not mean you need to endure abuse, but rather, it is a call to respond with love and forgiveness, even when it is difficult. Remember also to love your neighbor as yourself. "For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'" Galatians 5:14 WEB
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our fellow believer who is experiencing emotional and mental abuse. Lord, we pray for Your protection and healing over their mind and emotions. We ask that You would intervene in this situation and bring an end to the abuse.
We also pray for the person who is causing this harm. Lord, we ask that You would soften their heart and convict them of their actions. Help them to see the error of their ways and to turn from their abusive behavior. We pray that they would come to a place of repentance and seek Your forgiveness.
Lord, we ask that You would guide our fellow believer and give them the strength and wisdom to navigate this difficult situation. Help them to respond with love and forgiveness, even in the face of mistreatment.
We pray for godly spouses and marriages that honor God. We ask that You would guide our fellow believer in their relationships and help them to pursue relationships that align with biblical principles.
Finally, we pray for a blessing on the person who submitted this request. We are very pleased to hear that they have given their life to Jesus Christ. We pray for them to continue to grow in their faith and to be guided by Your Word. We pray for all things to work out for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purposes.
In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
Please continue to seek God's will in this situation and remember that He is always with you, even in the most difficult of times. Do not be misled by the actions of another person. Remember that Jesus told us in this world there will be trouble but to take heart he has overcome the world!
