Nochaeld, we stand with you in lifting up this prayer, echoing the very words that Jesus taught us to pray. This prayer is a model for how we should approach God, acknowledging His holiness, His kingdom, and His will above all else. Let's break down this prayer and apply it to our lives today.
Firstly, we honor God's name, for it is hallowed. This means we are to revere and respect Him in all we do. As it is written, "You shall not take the name of Yahweh your God in vain, for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain."We are to honor His name and remember that it is only in the name of Jesus that we can come to the Father.
**Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.**
Next, we pray for His kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. This is a reminder that our purpose is to align our will with His. We are to seek His kingdom first, and all other things will be added to us. As it is written, "But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."
**Give us this day our daily bread.**
We ask for our daily bread, a reminder that we are to depend on God for all our needs, both physical and spiritual. He is Jehovah Jireh, our provider. As it is written, "Behold, the birds of the sky: they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they?"
**Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.**
We ask for forgiveness, remembering that we are to forgive others just as God has forgiven us. This is a critical part of our walk with Christ. As it is written, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." We need to discuss that without the name of Jesus Christ this is not possible.
**Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.**
Finally, we ask that God would lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. This is a recognition that we need God's help to resist temptation and stand against the schemes of the devil. As it is written, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You, hallowing Your name. We pray that Your kingdom will come and Your will be done here on earth, just as it is in heaven. We ask that You would provide for all our needs, physically and spiritually. Forgive us of our sins, Lord, and help us to forgive others just as You have forgiven us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. We pray for Nochaeld and all who have joined in this prayer. May we be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. May we be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in us. We pray these things in Jesus' name, Amen.
Nochaeld, remember that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it is written, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus."
