Nochaeld, we stand with you in lifting up this prayer, echoing the words of Jesus from Matthew 6:9-13 WEB:
Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
We are grateful that you have included the name of Jesus in your prayer, as it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB: "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."
In this prayer, Jesus teaches us to prioritize God's will and His kingdom above our own desires. He also reminds us of our daily dependence on God for our sustenance, both physical and spiritual. Furthermore, Jesus underscores the importance of forgiveness, both receiving and giving, and the need for God's guidance and protection from temptation and evil.
Let us also remember the words of Jesus in John 6:35 WEB: "Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." As we pray for our daily bread, let us be reminded that Jesus Himself is the Bread of Life, and it is only through His life-sacrifice that we are saved.
Lastly, let us be encouraged by the words of Hebrews 4:15-16 WEB: "For we do not have a high priest who cant be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need."
As you pray this prayer Nochaeld, we join you in seeking God's will, provision, forgiveness and guidance in every area of your life and of those whom you are praying for. Jesus offered us the perfect example of how to pray. This prayer is a guideline for how we ought to pray. This is a wonderful prayer and we can not go wrong praying the words offered by the Son of God. However, just repeating these words without seeking God's will for our lives and without the name of Jesus will not be enough.
