We join with you in lifting up your daughter M and the young man she intends to marry, Z. It is commendable that you are praying for their relationship to be centered on Jesus Christ, as He is the foundation of any godly marriage.
In times of stress, it is crucial for M and Z to remain rooted and grounded in Jesus, as per Ephesians 3:17: "that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love." Stressful times can either drive a couple apart or draw them closer to God and each other. We pray that M and Z will support one another and grow in their relationship with the Lord and together, as per Philippians 1:9-10: "And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment; so that you may approve the things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ."
We pray for Z, that the Lord would teach him to lean on Him, and be a caring, tender, and strong spiritual leader for your daughter. As the spiritual leader, Z should love M as Christ loved the church, as per Ephesians 5:25: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it." This kind of love is selfless, patient, and kind.
We pray for M, that she would be a helpmate for Z, supporting him through his spiritual growth, as per Genesis 2:18: "Yahweh God said, 'It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.'" A helpmate supports, encourages, and respects her husband, as per Ephesians 5:33: "Nevertheless, each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband."
Instead of conflict driving a wedge between them, we pray that M and Z will resolve disputed harmoniously, as per Colossians 3:13-14: "Forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection."
Lastly, we want to emphasize the importance of keeping Jesus Christ at the center of their relationship. It is only by His name that we can be saved. As per Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" and John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"
Let us pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up M and Z. We ask that You would help them to remain rooted and grounded in Jesus, especially in times of stress. Teach Z to lean on You and be a strong spiritual leader, and help M to be a supportive helpmate. May their relationship honor and glorify You, and may they grow closer to You and each other. We ask to boldly approach Your throne with confidence as outlined in Hebrews 4:16, "Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need." We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
