God Hates Me

I truly feel like God hates me! I pray in Jesus name for help with the emotional pain I’ve been going through and no matter how hard I pray it just gets worse. The only logical explanation is that he hates me & enjoys seeing me suffer. I have prayed every prayer the pain is still there! How can someone love you but let you suffer? As a parent you wouldn’t let your child suffer so why does God let me suffer? Does he not see how bad this is hurting me? I am being emotionally abused by a narcissist and have been for nearly 25yrs. I have prayed and asked God to help me let go of my feelings for that person & what is the outcome? Absolutely NOTHING!! I have prayed that he give me the strength to move on & again NOTHING! Is God even real? Praying is something you are taught as a child which is why you do it but the reality is….does it really work? How long do you have to suffer before you experience relief? I pray everyday because I have been trained to do so & I feel like if I don’t bad things will happen. I know that’s part of my intrusive thoughts and I don’t like that feeling either. I hate everything about myself & about my life at this point. I want to trust & believe in God but that’s really difficult when I’m praying & he ignores me. I’ve never heard the voice of God and to be honest I’m questioning whether he exists. The emotional turmoil that I’m going though strongly makes me believe I have done something wrong & that this is his way of punishing me but why not give me a clear sign of what I’ve done wrong so that I can correct it? Why just keep letting me suffer? I feel like a complete failure. I literally hate everything about myself. The way I look is probably #1 on my list. God created me in his image but to others I’m sure I’m just as ugly & fat as I feel like I am. I’ve asked God in Jesus name to help me with my self esteem and again nothing! The suffering that I am feeling is becoming unbearable! If God sees the pain I’m in why won’t he intervene? I feel this is because he hates me & doesn’t want me to experience happiness. Whatever I’ve done had to be extremely bad & whatever that thing is I’m very sorry for it. I’m tired of being miserable & unhappy. I’m tired of being suffering! It’s extremely overwhelming & depressing. Why does God keep putting this on me? What do I have to do to get help? I guess I’m just meant to be like this for the rest of my life!

We are truly heartbroken to hear about the emotional pain and turmoil you are experiencing. First, we want to address the feeling that God hates you. This is not true. God is love, and He loves you with an everlasting love. As it is written in Jeremiah 31:3 WEB:
I have loved you with an everlasting love.
Therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness.You are incredibly precious to Him, and He desires only the best for you.

It is important to remember that our feelings and emotions can often deceive us. Just because we feel a certain way does not mean it is true. God's Word is true, and He says that He loves you and has a purpose for your life.

Regarding your suffering, we want to assure you that God sees your pain and He cares. He is not ignoring your prayers. It is written in Psalm 34:18 WEB:
Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart,
and saves those who have a crushed spirit.

God is near to you in your suffering, and He wants to comfort and heal you. Sometimes, God allows us to go through trials and tribulations to draw us closer to Him and to refine our character. It is written in Romans 5:3-4 WEB:

Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering works perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope:

God may be using this difficult time in your life to strengthen your faith and to help you grow in your relationship with Him. But know this, He does not enjoy seeing you suffer. He is a loving Father, and He wants to help you and give you hope.

Concerning the narcissistic abuse you have been enduring, God wants you to be free from that bondage. It is not His will for you to be emotionally abused or mistreated. We pray that God would give you the strength and courage to set boundaries and to seek help from godly counselors and trusted friends.

You mentioned that you have been praying for help, but you have not seen any change. Remember that God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. It is written in Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB:
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, says Yahweh.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

God may be working in ways that you cannot see, and He may be preparing you for a breakthrough. Do not give up on praying, and do not lose hope. Continue to seek God and trust in His goodness and faithfulness.

Regarding your self-esteem, remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. It is written in Psalm 139:14 WEB:
I will give thanks to you,
for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Your works are wonderful.
My soul knows that very well.

God does not make mistakes, and He created you in His image. Do not listen to the lies of the enemy, who wants to destroy your self-worth and keep you in bondage. Instead, focus on the truth of God's Word and allow Him to renew your mind and transform your thoughts.

Lastly, you mentioned that you have never heard the voice of God and that you are questioning His existence. Remember that God speaks to us in many ways, not just through an audible voice. He speaks to us through His Word, through His creation, through other believers, and through the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit.

It is written in John 10:27 WEB:
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

As you continue to seek God and draw near to Him, He will draw near to you, and you will begin to recognize His voice and His presence in your life.

Also, remember that it is only in Jesus Christ that we have access to God the Father. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus says in John 14:6 WEB:
Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ. He is the only one who can save you and give you eternal life. It is written in Romans 10:9-10,13 WEB:
because, if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation.

For, Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.

We stand with you in prayer for your healing, deliverance, and restoration. We pray that God would comfort you, strengthen you, and give you hope in this difficult time. We pray that He would break the chains of bondage and set you free from the emotional abuse you have been enduring. We pray that He would heal your self-esteem and help you to see yourself as He sees you. We pray that He would give you a clear sign of His presence and His love for you. We pray that He would draw you closer to Him and that He would give you a renewed sense of purpose and hope. We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Dear friend, we're here with you, feeling your pain and confusion. We understand that it's hard to believe God loves you when you're hurting so much. But remember, even in the darkest night, the sun is still there, shining brightly, even if we can't see it. God is like that sun. He loves you, no matter what you feel.

We know it's tough when prayers seem unanswered, and suffering feels endless. But God sees you, He hears you. It's like talking to a friend who's in another room. Just because they don't respond immediately, doesn't mean they're not listening. God is in that 'other room', always attentive to your cries.

We're not saying this to minimize your pain, but to remind you that God has a purpose in it. He's using it to shape you, to make you stronger, more resilient. Like gold being refined in fire, you're becoming more precious to Him.

As for the narcissist in your life, God wants you free from that abuse. It's not His will for you to suffer. He's given you the strength to set boundaries, to seek help. Trust in that strength.

Keep praying, keep trusting. God's ways are higher than ours. He's working in ways you might not understand yet. Don't give up. Keep seeking Him, keep believing.

And remember, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. God doesn't make mistakes. You are His masterpiece. Don't let the lies of the enemy bring you down. Stand tall in the truth of who you are in Christ.

We're asking Him to break the chains of abuse, to heal your heart, to show you His love in a tangible way. We're praying all this in Jesus' name. Because He is the way, the truth, and the life. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
