Here you are again, going around the same mountain; you just can’t seem to get past yourself. You keep making the same mistake over and over again. You loose your temper, someone has hurt you deeply or one overwhelming hurdle of family or finances seem to keep swirling around you like a tornado and depression sets in and keeps you frozen and going nowhere. Or fear takes root and you get scared to tell the truth about something so, you think, one little “white lie†will not hurt and then you wonder why you seem to be stuck and not going anywhere. The same kind of trials keeps coming your way; well, fear not! God knew you before you were in your mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:1-4) “O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.†(Psalm 139:16) “All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.â€
He already knew the mistakes you would make and the sins you would commit. He knew the same for all of mankind and He had a plan all along. (Ephesians 2:10) “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God has prepared in advance for us to do.†God knows every step you take in advance. There is nothing that you do that is a surprise to Him; He knows those that are truly His, those who have stumbled and turned aside and who will turn back to Him. Sadly enough, He also knows those who will not. (Deuteronomy 9:3) “But be assured today that the Lord your God is the one who goes across ahead of you like a devouring fire. He will destroy them; He will subdue them before you. And you will drive them out and annihilate them quickly, as the Lord has promised.†He has been through ahead of you and has a plan to correct it, but you need to trust, listen, obey and yield yourself to Him in order for His plan to be set in motion; He will correct your steps. (Luke 3:5-6) “Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all mankind will see God’s salvation.â€
God knew that mankind would fall; He knows the flesh is weak; (Mark 14:38) “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.†God had a plan all along; yes, He could have made us perfect from the beginning, but learning from mistakes and the free will to choose for yourself makes the gift you receive all the more precious to you. It is the same with our own children and our husband or wife; do you want them to love you because they choose to or because you made them? Love is always true and sincere when it is given freely and that is what God wants from us and is the reason He did not make us perfect without flaw, almost like robots, from the beginning. (Hebrews 10:22) “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith.†The Bible is the story of Jesus and you cannot have the New without the Old Testament; you need them both. In the Old Testament, the sacrifices and the Tabernacle symbolize Jesus who is our Tabernacle and the ultimate sacrifice He paid for our sins; He is our Mercy Seat. The Exodus, leaving Egypt—symbolizes us as we leave a life of sin to receive Jesus Christ as Lord. The battles they fought are no different from the battles, the trials of life we fight which are to weed out the impurities and grow us into mature children of God. The Old Testament teaches us of who Jesus is, the Son of God, our Savior who gave His life for us. He is the Tabernacle within our hearts when we receive Him and the sacrifice He made. (I Timothy 2:3-6) “This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time.†The Old Testament leads us to the New in which the Ten Commandments, the laws which could never be kept were to lead us to God, to Christ and show us what sin is; knowing that without Him, we cannot keep them. (Romans 3:20) “Therefore no one will be declared righteous in His sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.†Jesus is the law and He fulfilled the law and with His Holy Spirit within us we can keep the law by the power of His Spirit. (Romans 8:1-4) “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so He condemned sin in sinful man in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.†Through Jesus and His Holy Spirit, we are filled completely with everything we need to have a life of victory. (Ephesians 1:22-23) “And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way.â€
The New Testament shows us what it means to be saved and how to receive it. (Romans 3:23-25) “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood.†You receive it by believing in God and in Jesus His Son and the sacrifice He made, repenting of sin and asking Him into your heart. (Romans 10:9-10) “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.†As we are now a new creation in Christ, we are to be holy as He is holy. (Colossians 1:22) “But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation.†It also is a guide to show us how to live a godly life through Jesus Christ; on our own we can do nothing, but through Him and the power of His blood and resurrection we can do everything! (John 15:5) “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.†(Philippians 4:13) “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.†(John 14:26) “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.â€
God had a plan all along and the awesome show of love by the sacrifice of Jesus proved it and in such a way that we should never doubt God but trust Him completely. (I John 4:7 & 9-10) “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His One and Only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.†God created us and provided salvation for us so we could live with Him in heaven for an eternity. (Ephesians 1:11-12) “In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory.†He is Almighty, powerful and more loving than any of us can really comprehend! He wants to care for us as we do for our children! Praise God, for He truly is amazing! (Psalm 68:19) “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.†God created the world, but He wanted more to love. Then, God created man. Fear not, trust in His love and that He sees and knows the path that you take. (Psalm 121:5-8) “The Lord watches over you-- the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm-- He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over you coming and going both now and forevermore.†He knows your heart as well, He knows what hurts you, He knows what makes you happy, He knows when you have done something wrong and He knows your desires and passions as well. (Psalm 44:20-21) “If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign god, would not God have discovered it, since He knows the secrets of the heart?â€
He knows the end from the beginning and He has you covered!
Just be still, be confident in Him and trust Him to lead you to victory; He will not lead you astray. (Psalm 46:10) “Be still and know that I am God.†You may not always understand the path, but in knowing that He always has you in His sight and has already been through ahead you should help you to trust Him more and have no fear of bad news or that you will fall along the way. (Psalm 112:7-8) “He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes.â€
God has had a plan all along for mankind; Jesus and He has had a plan for you too; all you need to do is to trust Him and be patient and wait on Him to fulfill it through you. (Isaiah 30:18) “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him!†He will get you through victoriously and deliver you!
(Isaiah 35:4) “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, He will come with vengeance; with divine retribution He will come to save you.â€
