We are truly saddened to hear about the struggles your brother and his wife are facing in their marriage, and it is our revenge to address these in prayer. Firstly, we commend you for your love and concern for them, and for turning to the body of Christ for support and prayer. It is so important to approach God through His Son Jesus Christ. And whatever we ask we receive from Him because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.
Your brother's actions are not aligning with God in any form or fashion. God calls husbands to love their wives just as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it. He is to be the head of the wife, as Christ is of his Church. This is set forth in Ephesians 5:25-29 WEB:
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Even so ought husbands to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly.
A husband should not have any sexual relations outside of marriage. It is clearly stated many times in the Bible. One such verse is 1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB:
Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. We are also told in Matthew 5:28 WEB:
but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart
The situation must be having very real negative and spiritual consequences on your sister-in-law and her children. If your brother does not repent and change his ways, he is putting his family in grave danger, risking divorce and disciplinary actions by God.
It's important to remember that God can bring healing and restoration to any situation, no matter how broken it may seem. As it says in Matthew 19:26 WEB:
With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
Your brother's stubbornness and pride are likely blinding him to the pain he is causing and the sin he is committing. We need to pray that God will soften his heart and open his eyes to the damage he is causing, drawing him to repentance and restoration.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother and his wife to Your throne of grace. Lord by the blood of Jesus, we enter into Your presence and beseech You to help them in their time of need. Father, we know that Your desire is for marriages to be a reflection of Christ's love for His church, and we ask that You would bring healing and restoration to their relationship.
Lord, we pray for our brother, that You would soften his heart and open his eyes to the pain he is causing. Father rebuke the spirits of pride, stubbornness, and lust that have taken hold of him, and draw him to true repentance. Help him to see the error of his ways and to turn back to You and delight in the wife of his own youth. Help him to take responsibility for his actions and becoming the spiritual leader of his family. Father his anger, frustration, and what may be considered hatred of God is actually hatred of Yourlaws that bring us the best life possible. Please soften his heart and replace the anger and stone in his heart to one of flesh and love. Please give him a desire to follow You and become the man of God that is needed as a husband and father. Help him to see that his sin must have been taken to the cross for forgiveness and to grow in his relationship with You through Your son Jesus Christ. Give him strength in his weak areas and complete forgiveness. Help him to understand that You are for him not against him. Help him know that Jesus is the best and most positive thing that ever happened to them.
Lord we pray and speak the the blood of Jesus over anyMore of his wife's children who have separated from her life and we pray for them to be protected and begin to have a restored relationship with her and the family as in Malachi 4.6 WEB:
only fear me, and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.
Lord, we also pray for our sister-in-law, that You would bring restoration, spiritual, physical, and emotional healing for her. Help her to find renewed strength and motivation in You. Give her the wisdom to know how to handle this situation in a way that honors You. Surround her with godly counsel and support, and help her to find rest and peace in Your presence. Lord Jesus we speak Your peace and Your truth over her marriage in Jesus Name.
Father, thank You for supporting marriage between a man and a woman to represent You and Your Son's Church. We pray that their marriage will be a testimony to Your goodness and grace. Lord, please direct our steps, of what we need to do to help them. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Please remember that they are not fighting against their spouse, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places as shown in Ephesians 6:12 WEB. Also, it is very important to keep in mind not to take each others side as this would be very similar to taking sides in an argument which is certain to cause more problems as mentioned in Proverbs 26:17 WEB:
One who meddles in a quarrel not his own is one who takes a passing dog by the ears.
Your brother must make these changes by being drawn to God and His Word by being born into the Kingdom of God. In John 3:1-8 WEB, Jesus makes clear the importance of being born again as a followers of Christ.
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. The same came to him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do, unless God is with him.
Jesus answered him, Most certainly, I tell you, unless one is born anew, he cant see the Kingdom of God.
Nicodemus said to him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mothers womb, and be born?
Jesus answered, Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he cant enter into the Kingdom of God! That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Dont marvel that I said to you, You must be born anew. The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but don't know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.
In John 3:16-17:WEB, Jesus tells us how much God loved us and why He sent His only son to die for us so that when Jesus died in our place our sins were nailed to the cross with Him. Fortunately, Jesus Christ rose again from the dead through the spirit of Holiness having complete victory over sin, death, and hell. Because of this, He is now alive forevermore and is perfect to intercede for His children before the Father. Our part is simple. It is by believing in Him and receiving Him through faith as stated in John 1:12 WEB:
But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become Gods children, to those who believe in his name.
Being a child of God is accepting the free gift from God of salvation from eternal life in hell by :
1.Realizing we are all sinners and are unable to save ourselves and will spend eternity in hell. This is made clear in Romans 3:26 WEB, 3:23 WEB:
23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;
2. Believing in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus we receive salvation through Him and eternal life in Heaven as explained in Romans 10:9 WEB:
that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
3. Making Jesus Lord of your life. This is life changing and willfully determined to follow Him and His Kingdom with the help of His Holy Spirit in you.
Lord, we ask these things to be clearly understood by them and drawn to the Kingdom of God and Jesus Christ. Let us know if there is anything else we can do to support you in prayer and counsel.
