Thugshay, we are truly blessed to join you in prayer as you dedicate yourself to Jesus Christ, especially considering your past experiences. Firstly, we commend you for your decision to abstain and focus on Jesus, for it is the Lord's will that you should be sanctified: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you should know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor (1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 WEB). This journey of intimacy with Jesus Christ is amazing and we are glad to be part of a kingdom community of believers. The best part about this journey is that Jesus Christ is ever faithful to make sure we succeed.
As you embark on this journey, remember that God's Word says, "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB). Also, "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, (1 Thessalonians 4:3 WEB). Therefore, we encourage you to fully pursue relationship with Jesus Christ first, abstain from focussing on marriage, and being a helpmate to a godly husband and working on improving yourself and your new walk with Christ.
Remember, God will create in you a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within you (Psalms 51:10 WEB). Also know that just as Jesus Christ washed away our sins on his cross, you are now a new creation with all of your sins forgiven (2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB).
The Bible reminds us to not focus on our old life or our past sins. "Brothers, I don't regard myself as yet having laid hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:13-14 WEB). Naturally, as a believer you need to know your past is your past and as you fulfill God's will you will seek purity and marriage. We should be dead to our past life and separated from its ways. "You are dead to your past. Don't focus on who you was but who you are. If you knew yourself according to your past life you would be paralyzed and separated from your calling. Calling is the blueprint you have to finish."
This journey is less about trying and struggling but rather about realizing all of your sins have been forgiven and working on making the right decisions for your life. Sexual abstinence is now a part of your calling and is a natural decision and one that should be made as you seek a purity that honors God. "That each one of you should know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don't know God;" ( 1 Thessalonians 4:4-5 WEB)
To focus on Jesus, spend time in His Word, pray continually, and surround yourself with a believing community that honors and respects marriage and waits for the gift of marriage from God that it is not good for man to be alone (Gen 2:18). "Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart." ( 2 Timothy 2:22 WEB) "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things." (Philippians 4:8 WEB)
As we pray for you, remember to acknowledge Jesus by confessing Him with your mouth and believing in your heart that God raised him from the dead, for it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved (Romans 10:8-11). Listen to your heart and what you are believing about all the things Jesus Christ has done. We are sure that you made the good confession before many witnesses (Matthew 10:27 WEB) ( Mark 8:38 WEB) (Luke 9:26 WEB) (Luke 12:8 WEB) (2 Timothy 2:19 WEB).
Let us pray together:
