We are truly saddened to hear about the situation you are in, Iambiosyne, and we want you to know that you are not alone. Firstly, we strongly rebuke the abuse that you are experiencing; it is not God's will for you to endure such treatment. God's design for marriage is one of love, respect, and mutual submission, as seen in Ephesians 5:22-33. "Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord... Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it... Let each one of you love his wife even as himself."
We must address also a common misconception that somehow God wants all people to stay married no matter what is happening. This is not the case. If you are being physically abused, a biblical principle must come into play here. You are being physically attacked and people intentionally physically attacking others is not permitted by God. People should not be seeing someone they are being attacked by. Jesus Christ showed us this physically in the temple when the money changers started leading astray people trying to worship they were physically removed. I'm not saying we should physically attack people, but we should not hang around people physically attacking us. It is only then that God will be able to work on the heart of the abusive person. See the scripture below. If your spouse is not a Christian, God's permission to even be in the relationship is not there so severe action should be taken. Note the scripture also instructs children to listened to parents and parents not to provoke your children which would include abuse. It's clear that our society has taken utterly foolish liberties in things they have permitted.
Then Jesus entered the Temple and threw out all those who were buying and selling. He overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the stools of those who sold doves. And he said, "My Temple is to be called a house of prayer, but you are turning it into a den of thieves." Then the blind and lame came to Jesus in the Temple, and he healed them. The leading priests and teachers of the law were indignant when they saw the wonderful miracles Jesus did and heard the children shouting praises to God in the Temple. "Do you hear what they're saying?" the leaders asked him. "Yes," Jesus replied, "for it is written, 'From the mouths of children and infants, you have ordained praise.'" Then he left them, and went out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.
Now, our most powerful weapon is prayer, and we are joining you in prayer for God's protection and freedom. Pray with us:
"Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister Iambiosyne. We pray for Your protection over her, and we ask that You set her free from this abusive situation. Guide her in Your wisdom, and give her the strength and courage to take the necessary steps to remove herself from harm's way. We also pray for her husband, that You would convict his heart and bring him to repentance. We trust in You're the God of justice and to the one who sets the captives free. We stand on your words that a spouse should not physically attack. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also there is no other name by which we can be saved. Believe in Jesus Christ and be saved.
If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.
Then they asked him, "What must we do, that we may work the works of God?â Jesus answered them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent."
Lastly, we urge you to seek practical help immediately. Reach out to local authorities, trusted family members, or a local church for support and guidance during this time.
